12 companies bid for Jos main market rebuilding

Twelve companies have finally declared their intention to rebuild the Jos main market edifice which was burnt down on 7 September, 2001 during the crisis in Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau state.

Plateau state government has assured the people of the state of their total commitment and supports in bringing the market back on track.

The Project Implementation Unit (IPU) of the Plateau State Government comprising of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Jos Main Market Authorities, and Plateau Investment and Property Company for the rebuilding of the burnt Jos main market has opened the submissions for the bidding for rebuilding of Jos central market.

The brief ceremony for the opening of the submissions for the bidding was done at the Cabinet office of the state secretariat.

In his remark, the Chairman of the IPU Honourable Ezekiel Gomos said the transparent bidding process was part of the promise of the government of Lalong to establish confident in the running of the administration of Plateau state.

Honourable Ezekiel Gomos stated that the gesture to rebuild the market which was burnt in February 2002 marks the implementation of the industrialisation policy thrust of the government of Barrister Simon Lalong. He assured the bidders of government’s total commitment in the rebuilding process and intimidated them that soon they will be communicated of further positive development regarding the bidding.

The bidding has the total of twelve (12) would be technical partners who paid the approved the non-refundable fee.

Responding to the business revamping effort of the Plateau state government especially the Jos main market, the representative of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Plateau chapter Barrister Haroun Audu expressed total joy in the commitment of the Simon Lalong administration to boost the revenue and industrialisation of the state through the main market which was hitherto an economic hub of Plateau, Nigeria and Africa at large.

He prayed for political will and total commitment on part of the state government to rekindle the economic  and industrialisation hope which would return Plateau back to its hitherto economic glory.
