Zamfara State Government Establishes  Artisanal Mining Centre In The State

Zamfara State Government is to establish a special Artisanal mining centre in the state to control mining activities and ensure legal mining in the state  if properly approved by the Federal Government.

 

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun announced this today while receiving fourteen local Government Council Chairmen of Zamfara State under the auspices of the Association of Local Government Council of Nigeria (ALGON) who paid him a Sallah Homage at his residence in Maradun.

 

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle said the centre if established will serve as a special centre that would control and checkmate the  mining activities of other centres at local Government levels and other mining sites so that Government Will monitor srictly all forms of mining activities in the state.

 

He said already, the Federal Government has cancelled all illegal mining activities in the state, pointing out that the measure will go along way in improving the economy of state.

 

He also directed Local Government Council Chairmen to liaise with their Emirs and stop illegal mining activities in their respective Areas and report back to the state Government in two week time.

 

Governor Bello Matawalle commended the Federal Government for sending special forces of police personnel and Army to Areas where illegal mining is taking place, adding that last two weeks, his administration ordered the arrest of two Chinese who engaged in illegal mining in Nasarawa Burkullu of Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.

He said, just recently another two citizens of Burkina Faso were also arrested for illegal mining in the state.

The Governor called on the local Government Council Chairmen to support his administration’s drive to transform the state into an economically viable position.

 

Earlier, the Chairman ALGON in the state and Executive Chairman of Birnin magaji Local Government Council Alhaji Muhammad Umar said they were at his residence on a traditional Sallah homage.

 

Alhaji Muhammad Umar assured the Governor that local Government Council Chairmen will continue to support his Administration’s policies and programmes.
