The attention of the state taskforce for the prevention and control of corona virus formally known as COVID -19 has been drawn to the daily update of new confirmed cases of COVID -19 victims as being released by the Nigerian centre for diseases control(NCDC) nationwide with particular concern on the one released yesterday Monday 18/05/2020

Reacting to NCDC’s 18/05/2020 release where the centre unilaterally allocated 10 new confirmed cases to Zamfara, the state taskforce chair on COVID-19 and speaker Zamfara state House of Assembly Rt Hon Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya berated the Nigerian centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) for arriving at that figure to the state.

Speaker Magarya while putting the record straight said as at 18/05/2020 the state had only 2 new confirmed cases bringing to 76 total confirmed cases with 45 poeple already discharged, 5 deaths and having 28 active cases remaining.

The zamfara state chief lawmaker further affirmed that out of ten confirmed cases released by NCDC yesterday to Zamfara state eight were not the blood samples sent to center by the state taskforce only two were said to be the genuine blood samples sent by his committee.

The state taskforce chair wondered why a highly skilled and professional body like NCDC will arrived at this result falsification a situation he said will erode the credibility of the centre in the eyes Nigerian public and world at large .

Speaker Nasiru while demanding for an unreserved apology from Nigerian centre for diseases control to the government and people of Zamfara state and also called on them to be meticulous in dealing with sensitive human lives of Nigerians.

He was however optimistic that the spread of the pandemic is drastically reducing in the state which he attributed to the commitment state governor Dr Bello Muhammad MON Matawallen Maradun by providing all the financial and technical support to his committee, as well as support and understanding shown by the people of zamfara state in the fight against the pandemic a situation he described as encouraging.

On the final note speaker Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya enjoyed the good people of zamfara state to use the remaining part of Ramadan fast to vehemently prayed to Allah (S.W.A.) to bring to and end of this dreaded disease not only in zamfara state but to the nation and world at large .
