The Zaar Youth Development Association (ZAYODA) National on Saturday organized a lecture on drug abuse for its members.
The program was held at the Watal Hotel, Tafawa-Balewa local government area of Bauchi State.
Ga’Allah Daniel who is the leader of the association said that the lecture will change the lives of many people in the land.
He said “You can imagine a youth of 18 years in this generation, will look like he is 50 years of age just because of involvement in very bad drug abuse.
He added that it is also increasing the level of divorce in the land rate of stealing particularly during this period of rainy season when parents are not always at home
He advises parents to continue monitoring the movement of their children in order not to be reckless in society.
The National Youth leader of the Zaar, comrade Ga’Allah Daniel said that they will liaise with security agencies that deal with drug abuse anyone who is found guilty of drug abuse that leads to confusion and stealing in the community will be punished.
In his part, the guest speaker of the occasion, Dr. Atiku Nummi speaks on the theme: The negative effect of consumption of drugs and other illicit substances among Zaar youths.
Nummi mentioned some signs of drug and substance abuse such as bloodshot eyes, pupils larger or smaller than usual, change in appetite, sudden weight loss or weight gain, deterioration of physical appearance, and usual smell on breath.
He said that the behavioral warning signs of drug abuse are poor work, decline in performance, financial problems, sudden change in friends, accidents, and trouble-prone.
Dr. Atiku Nummi calls on parents, and traditional rulers of the Zaar land to join hands together to continue monitoring the in and out of the youth so that they cannot be addicted to drug abuse.
