The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, heard how three prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bauchi State managed the N500 million booty dispatched to the state from the N23 billion allegedly released by the former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to influence the outcome of last year’s presidential election in favour of the PDP.

The trio of Sace Dumba, who is the former Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly; Mohammed Rabo, Caretaker Chairman of DASS Local Government and the former Chairman of the PDP in Dass Local Government Area, who were grilled for hours at the Gombe Zonal Office of the EFCC, all admitted collecting the cash and sharing it based on certain criteria. According to the three men, the bribe money was shared to PDP ‘stakeholders’ in all 20 the local government areas of the state by the then Commissioner for Finance, Garba Dahiru, under the administration of Mallam Isa Yuguda.

They also told the EFCC that the sharing formula was, however, based on the population of each of the local government areas, making it possible for Bauchi local government area, which has the largest number of voters, to receive N48,020.000, followed by Toro with N32,490.00, while Ningi got N28,250,000 from the booty.

The three men were, however, granted administrative bail by the EFCC, pending further investigation.
