The All Progressives Congress, APC, Plateau State Chapter Secretary, Malam Bashir Musa Sati, has responded to a statement issued by the Plateau PDP, calling it series of lies cooked by the People Democratic Party, PDP, to misled the supporters of their party in the forthcoming senatorial bye-election scheduled to hold 31st October 2020.
In a statement made available to this medium by the state secretary, Barr Musan-sati frowned at the manner they carrying out their campaign of calumny and mischiefs.
He said, “Our attention has been drawn to yet another lies in the attitudinal chains of one Mr. John T. Akans, the self-imposed spokesman of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau State chapter”.
It is instructive to stress that, the Plateau People, gets confused each time a statement is issued in the name of the PDP, the simple reason being that the PDP, is yet to legally constitute its executive committee, having it not lawfully conducted congresses to put in place any state official.
It is factual that the party is in itself factionalized, with litigations awaiting court judgments, thereby, lacking any merit worth of recognition.
So from which faction is Akans, pouring the usual attitudinal lies, alleging that the APC candidate is planning to recruits its members as, INEC Ad-hoc staff, ahead of the Plateau South Senatorial zone.
The APC and People of Plateau State, are aware that going by the unlawful constitution of PDP’s executive committee, the party has no Senatorial candidate in the forthcoming bye-election. We, therefore, deemed it unwise to make pronouncements as to the genuineness of its claim, against Governor Lalong and Prof. Nora Daduut.
We are not the electoral umpire and so shall not speak for it, however, any accusation that the INEC Commissioner, Malam Halilu Pai, Governor Lalong, and our candidate Prof. Nora Daduut, are planning to subvert the will of the people, is mere falsehood, that is more of political hype than substance.
Should the factionalized PDP, in its bewildering status forget, we soberly remind it that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is the only lawful statutory agency of Government that is saddled with the onerous responsibility of recruiting Adhoc staff.
The PDP should also be informed that gone are the days when it used to influence, the umpire to subvert people’s rights, by declaring fake results in its favor. Or is the PDP, feeling the nemesis of its attitude, of treading on constitutionality?
Clear facts have emerged that the APC even as opposition in 2015, did not lose hope of winning an election, talk less of now been in governance with myriads of achievements, that easily entice electorates to vote for our candidates, at any given election.
The APC is keenly interested to engage whoever is serving as either Chairman or Secretary of the contentious faction of the PDP, which Akans, represent to an open media parley, then their constant style of disseminating chains of attitudinal lies, misinforming and misleading innocent citizens of our dear state. For me, I am done with the State Publicity Secretary, a position I held as far back as 1993, in the ruling Social Democratic Party, SDP.
This we challenge the faction to parley us so that People can either distill proof to the allegations or otherwise.
