The recent outburst of Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ chairman of ADSUBEB soon after he was coroneted as Waziri – Mazi has been condemned by a group, the Concern Kamwe In Diaspora(COKAD)  in Adamawa.

In a statement signed by the spokesman of the group, Mallam Abubakar Zira Garta, said; “The auspicious occasion of your decoration was adorned with more irregularities than regularities, which you found very okay to execute your grand AGENDA or you were not canny to observe. From your reception at Michika bridge, you should have noticed it was a caliber who welcomed you. I was almost giving an excuse for that act, when by the subsequent words of your mouth you proved me wrong by attesting that You are just for the Fulanis and not for the entire people of Adamawa State,” the group said.

According to group, it said; “You proceeded to the palace of the local chief of Madzi, Abubakar Mamman and then to the palace of another ward head Hamma Muqaddas with no regards to the District Head of Michika as a whole, His Highness Ngidda Zakawa. I thought all these could be assumed you were misled and could be ‘partially’ excused.

“Unfortunately, the sense of excused could be withdrawn, owing to your statement, quoting you verbatim thus; “Rabi na FU LANI NE, rabi na kuma SU NE” to translate this in simple English “I am HALF FULANI, half THEM”. This statement is capable of dragging the whole state into the fiery furnace of violence. Your statement clearly shows you were not misled, but you woefully to show crystal DISCRIMINATION and hate for those whom you referred to as “THEM”. Before the trigger is pulled you have clearly shown the kind of BIAS leader you are. This is not a good fate for a State where everyone is trying to fight a common enemy – Boko Haram, but you are creating more enmity among the people.

“I agree with Red Haircrow thus; “You don’t have to disrespect and insult others simply to hold your own ground. If you do, that shows how shaky your position is”. The speculations that you’re working behind the scene to antagonize Governor Fintiri’s administration is becoming very glaring.”

“It further asked, Marghi and the Kamwe are the most populous tribes in Adamawa State yet they’re denied even third Class Staff of office since creation of Michika and Madagali for over 30 years.
Who’s oppressing the people of Michika and Madagali??”

“Your position lucidly betrays you. You chose to use “rabi na su ne” in order to paint some balance. You know that is absolutely false. Your allegiance is to those whom you value and have vowed to work for. We shall follow your administrative pursuit to see where you lean towards and make necessary recommendations to the State Governor. I hope His Excellency is also aware, that you have equated yourself to the Executive Governor by the kind of reception you organized for yourself at the Michika bridge. We know that it is the Governor that is supposed to be welcomed as such. Sir, does this action points to something? Are you not already eyeing the seat of the Governor come 2023 or working for your masters? Or Are you trying to disrespect His Excellency, Rt Hon? Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri in the same  manner you are disrespecting the seat of the Lamido of Adamawa?”

Am always arrested by the grip of loyal and condense respect anytime I pass the palace of the Lamido of Adamawa. The revered throne which has existed for over 179 years (1841 – 2020) that was when Adama finally settled in Yola) is now on the verge of humiliation and subsequent extinction orchestrated by her very descendant.

The throne of the Lamido of Adamawa is the highest of power and authority in Adamawa state. As the stool where lies the sovereignty of the chairman of Adamawa’s traditional council. It remains the control panel of all traditional rulers in the state. From there emanates the power of all traditional councils especially when they speak in una voce – in one voice. It is clear this seat of power does not have the history to disrespect any other traditional ruler of the equal or lower class in the state, because the power that exudes from there comes from all the traditional rulers irrespective of status.

History vociferously potents on respect as the pillar on which hinges the power and authority majestic throne of the Lamido of Adamawa state. Hence, any form of disrespect or condensed act of insubordination will be diluted with stiff resistance.

Our forbearance taught us to respect people as humans to ensure peaceful co-existence.  Maya Angelou attested to this fact thus; “If we lose love and self-respect for each other, this is how we finally die.” Needless to say why the Lamido is addressed as His ROYAL HIGHNESS, any act which truncates or demean the majestic stool to a low seat and could only mean the Lamido would be addressed as His LOWNESS. Allah Kiyaye. Amin.

I congratulate Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ chairman of ADSUBEB on your coronation as Waziri – Mazi. I believe it is a great achievement in your life. As an academician, your words are believed to be very thoughtful, articulate, and logical. People like me who admire your academic stride always look up to you, therefore swallowing your words and actions; hook, line and sinker.

The auspicious occasion of your decoration was adorned with more irregularities than regularities, which you found very okay to execute your grand AGENDA or you were not canny to observe. From your reception at the Michika bridge, you should have noticed it was a caliber who welcomed you. I was almost giving an excuse for that act when by the subsequent words of your mouth you proved me wrong by attesting that You are just for the Fulanis and not for the entire people of Adamawa state.  You proceeded to the palace of the local chief of Madzi, Abubakar Mamman, and then to the palace of another ward head Hamma Muqaddas with no regards to the District Head of Michika as a whole, His Highness Ngidda Zakawa. The speculations that you’re working behind the scene to antagonize Governor Fintiri’s administration is becoming very glaring.

Your position lucidly betrays you. Or Are you trying to disrespect His Excellency, Rt Hon. Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri in the same manner you are disrespecting the seat of the Lamido of Adamawa?

The aforementioned disturbs my conscience that I have no option than to question your appointment by His Excellency, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Your Excellency, are your appointments meant to serve a particular tribe in Adamawa State or to serve ALL? Why MUST you appoint people with hidden Agenda and show gross disrespect to traditional institutions like Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ?

Your Excellency Sir, for your respect for traditional rulers, you have kept to all the promises during your campaign and your appointment was without any discrimination. Why is Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ different?

Your Excellency, with your wealth of experience and prowess in politics you can interpret the action of the Chairman of ADSUBEB better. This singular act has raised a lot of eye bras within and outside the state and even outside the shore of Nigeria. People are asking if you are trying to divide the state base into ethnic, religious, and tribal lines while using the Chairman of ADSUBEB Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ to create the cronies. To that, I say NO as the blind could see the giant stride you are brewing to have lasting peace in the state.

Caution should not be thrown to the wind Your Excellency, such action could scuttle the wonderful efforts you have done and still doing to bring and sustainable peace in Adamawa state.

Your Excellency, I believe you will not tolerate a Federal appointee on official duty in your state without a courtesy call to your high esteemed office, whether you are on the seat or not. International organizations and other countries which I will not mention, but are assisting the state to have their eyes open to see how this issue will be addressed. Don’t be surprised if you begin to witness the withdrawal of aids from such bodies. I am not skeptical about your track records in handling issues. Just note the sensitivity in this.

Giving excuses to a grave disrespect spells danger especially to the revered office of the Lamido of Adamawa. The intimacy between the state and the traditional authority is an unbroken umbilical cord. When an issue like this is not addressed the state could be unruly and ungovernable. If a District Head is disrespected by a Ward Head, it will be difficult for the District head to respect a second class chief, then a volcano will erupt on the throne on the Lamido if any first-class king refuses to pay homage to him because they are on the same cadre.

The Marghi and the Kamwe are the most populous tribes in Adamawa State yet they’re denied even third Class Staff of office since creation of Michika and Madagali for over 30 years.
Who’s oppressing the people of Michika and Madagali??”

Obviously, the actions of Dr. Salihi Ibrahim Ateequ is not an act of disrespect to the District Head of Michika, but it is a very subtle way to dethrone the Lamido of Adamawa using a systematic method of disrespect from the lowest to the highest. My father will say; ‘a child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.’ Do we wish to keep the sanctity of the throne of our forefather Adama or we wish to destroy it in our time. The answer is with You, to act or not to.
