Young Journalists Should Engage In ICT And Bridge The Information Gap- Ledum Mitee

The erstwhile President of Unrepresented Nations and People Organization, UNPO, in Hague, Ledum Mitee, has said that young journalists should endeavour, to bridge the communication gap to the uninformed on salient, economical issues to empower young Nigerians to avert restiveness and insurgency in Nigeria.

Mitee, who is the present Secretary of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, said it is important for journalists to ensure that journalists as information carriers, to always ensure that they make available information that can enhance youth engagement in Nigeria, by giving information that would liberate the unemployed young Nigerians from abject poverty.

The host of the Forum, Ambassador Leopoldo Rovayo Verdesoto said that networks and connectivity are not functioning effectively hence there is need for improvement from this sector so that everyone in the society will be carried along.

The former, Director, Ministry of Budget and National, Sir, Chris Eze Ezeilo, noted that young Nigerians should endeavor to train themselves in ICT, to ensure that they are relevant in the work space, because in this age all jobs requires ICT, intervention to thrive and youths should key into it.

Head of Climate Change Unit, of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Victor Fodeke, urged journalists to use the ICT to communicate information that can mitigate the effects of Climate Change, in Nigeria, towards actualizing the Nationally Determined Contribution, as consented to by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Paris Declaration.

The country Director of Power for All, Ify Malo, posited that young people should desist from posting gory pictures on social media, that it can diminish their job employment potentials, because most employers are now social media conscious to view the postings of their would be employers.

The Head of Department, Women and Youth, of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Rita Goyit, urged journalists to use the ICT, especially the social media to expose, sexual harassment at work places, to make young workers less vulnerable to sexual harassment.
