Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba state, on Tuesday, urged “so-called stakeholders” in the state to key into his policies of providing quality governance, warning that no group has the capacity to frustrate his efforts.
He identified the failure of those that constitute themselves as stakeholders in providing support and sincere advice to past administrations, as the reason why the state is still backward.
Kefas stated this while interacting with the media and student leaders at the state government house in Jalingo the state capital.
The governor who justified some of his recent promises, especially on free education and slashed tuition fees, noted that the declaration was made after due research and consultation.
According to him from the day he was elected as governor, he started working by making consultations to understand the problems on the ground.
Kefas while reacting to allegations that his government has made several promises without adequate consultation with stakeholders says. “I am the governor; no stakeholder is above me and no stakeholder has the capacity to frustrate me.”
“These set of people could not do anything to salvage the system but are now attacking me simply because l wants to address the problem facing education in our state,” he said.
Mr. Kefas, who warned that he would step on the toes of those who choose to stand against the implementation of his policies, said he was determined to instill discipline and hard work in the system.
“Heads are going to roll, whoever wants to stand in my way, will bear the brunt, people should be very careful,” stressing that he was not answerable to anybody but the Almighty God and the People of Taraba.
He charged the “so-called stakeholders” to do things properly as Tarabians were yearning for change and the government could not afford to disappoint them.
“So I should go and meet somebody that needs rehabilitation to tell me what I should do? I went through military training, I went through leadership training, and I have served in the military for many years so somebody will sit down in one dark corner and try to point something for me in light.
“If anybody does not believe, let him pray for a long life to see. I don’t just make pronouncements, everything I want to do I have finished all the assessments, and they will be seeing new things. When people are saying the promises are too much, what promises are too much?
“Heads will roll, people need to be very careful, anybody that is standing in the way to frustrate my policies the person will be dealt with so people should be careful we are talking about the destiny and life of young people.
“Let them wait, keep their mouths shut, and see I don’t make pronouncements. I made declarations, I am the one in charge. I need people coming with constructive ideas and support.
“If they have been doing it and succeeding this time around, they can’t succeed because I am very focused and they will see more coming.
“I am not coming here to steal; I am not coming here to take what belongs to the people. They should just watch if I fail. They should crucify me but they can’t crucify me while I am here, I have immunity. I will disappoint them because I know myself very well.” Kefas boasted
