A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Hon Danladi Garba Pasali has blasted the former Governor Jonah David Jang for planning to join protesters against the impeachment of Rt.Hon. Ayuba Nuhu Abok as he is lacking in morality to lead the protesters because of his injustice, impunity recorded during the reign of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
Pasali speaking said; “If you Jonah David Jang is talking about the crisis at the state house of assembly, I think you do not have the moral right to talk of injustice because you’re the father of injustice in Plateau state.
He lamented that; “You can’t remember that under your watch as the governor of the state from 2007-2015 at least no fewer than 4 speakers were impeached, Jang created most of the political upheaval that is being witnessed today in Plateau.”
According to him, the crisis currently rocking the state House of Assembly, some people are in APC but their mind is in PDP, we saw that they are being sponsored outside the party when you look carefully at the scenario.
When you look at the whole 36 states of the federation of Nigeria, is there one thing that has not happened?
Although I haven’t been in Bassa Local Government for a while, I am always in touch with people that matter politically in Bassa and they didn’t agree with the concept of one candidate emerging as the sole candidate in Bassa.
Impeachment of Plateau Speaker: Jang has no moral right to protest, he is a promoter of impunity – Hon Pasali
Pasali disclosed that Senator Jonah David Jang is a promoter of impunity adding that during the period he held sway as Governor, Plateau state witnessed the worst form of abuse of due process and disregard for court orders.
Pasali said this while speaking to some journalists in Jos on Monday in reaction to a recent statement in the media credited to the Former Governor of his intention to lead a peaceful protest over the impeachment of Nuhu Ayuba Abok as Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly.
The APC gladiator posited that democracy was turned upside between 2007 to 2015, no thanks to the then Governor Jang who was more of an emperor than a democrat. “Aside from turning the state into a family empire, Jang had no respect for the rule of law and due process.
“He equally had a penchant for disregarding court orders. During his tenure, four Speakers were impeached at different times.
“He also imposed a Chairman for Jos North Local Government in 2008, a situation that snowballed into cries that almost consume the whole state.
“Jang in his usual characteristic, flouted a court order by refusing to swear in late Daniel Dul as Chairman Langtang North Local Government until Lalong came into office in 2015.
Recall also that the same Jang benefited from the inglorious 16 is greater than 19 ‘comic drama which saw him parading himself as the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum with 16 votes against the position of the majority of the Governors who actually voted Rotimi Amaechi as NGF Chairman with 19 votes. These are just a few out of the numerous acts of impunity committed by Jang while he was Governor.
“Bear in mind too that he is the architect of all the crises being witnessed currently in the PDP in the state. So, he has no moral right to protest over the removal of the Speaker by his colleagues in a House of Assembly that is completely independent.
“Recall also that during the impeachment of the four Speakers during Jang’s tenure, the House of Assembly was not Independent which made the possible influence of the Executive in the affairs of the House and this could easily be the reason why four speakers were impeached at various times within six years.
“As a matter of fact, Jang is only struggling to gain recognition having been in limbo for years. Let me tell you, Jang would be outrightly disgraced in the event he comes out to protest because nobody will support him and would definitely end up being alone on the street. He no longer has followership at the moment”.
The National Coordinator of the Buhari Campaign Organization (BCO) added that what has been happening in the House of Assembly was a brainchild of mischief makers and external sponsors who are hell-bent on bringing down the Lalong administration wondering why the Governor should be dragged into an affair of a House that is completely autonomous. “There are a lot of mischief politicians in Plateau State. This is a state where some people wear APC dress but their heart is PDP.
“So to me, what is happening in the House of Assembly is a clear handiwork of the opposition party (the PDP) and external sponsors in connivance with insiders.
“But the fact remains that Nuhu Abok has been impeached as Speaker and Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda is the current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
“My call to the Honourable Members of the House is to look at the bigger picture (which is Plateau State) rather than trying to satisfy the interest of few individuals who actually don’t have the interest of the state at heart”, he said.
I may not be sure of the number that was alleged to have impeached the speaker, but one thing is sure, they followed due process of impeaching the speaker because the house has it rules.
So we can’t go and be talking of the state house of assembly, because is the house affairs.
There are some people sponsored particularly from the opposition Party’s or outside to disrupt the unity of APC.
The statement credited to the former governor of the state, David Jonah Jang over the current impeachment of the speaker hon, Abok Nuhu,
Jonah Jang is a man in the Political desert without followers, So if he comes out day, he may even be disgraced because nobody will follow him, he maintained.
My Take regarding direct primaries,
You know that our party APC had conducted registration across the country which people came out en mass to register.
I think the direct primary is a welcome idea because is going to solve the problems of candidates’ imposition by some power drink stalwart.
On the underground work by some state Governors to ensure the bill didn’t see the light of the day, he said,
Some of us are Mr. President die-hard and Mr. President is beneficial of direct primaries in 2019 and Mr. President is a staunch supporter of direct primaries and some of us who is diehard of Mr. President is solidly in support of direct primary.
What is your take on some Governors’ working to ensure Mr. President didn’t assent to the bill, The president will surely assent to the bill, which is currently in the final stage of passage?
Mind you that it’s not all the Governors’ that are against the bill, some responsible Governors’ are in support of the bill.
At the stakeholders meeting chaired by Vice President Professor Osinbajo, you will know that not all the Governors’ are against the bill of direct primary.
