WRAPA Launches WOR To Address Violence Against Women In Plateau

Senior Project Officer of WRAPA on Violence against Women , Girls Accountability Project ,Dinma Nwanye has launched and inaugurated platform for women of resilience ,WOR, towards addressing the right of vulnerable women ,girls two years project implementation in Plateau state with a called on men to support them to achieve meaningful progress in Nigeria .

She stated this during the official launching of the project at Dagwom Kabong Palace on Monday in Jos North Local Government Council.

Nwanye said, they have embark on project in Plateau, FCT, Jigawa ,Katsina ,and Kaduna states for women survivor on the challenges domestic violence ,rape which started in 2020 in partnership with the traditional rulers by calling on to support and encourage them to achieve better lives in their communities .

She emphasized that the launching of the project was gear towards how they women would open up by reporting and managing the victims to achieve justice after their right is violated.

According to her, some group of women volunteers were train to speak on behind of the victims and understand the major areas to report whenever incident of rape, violation of their right happened either by their husband or children in the community.

She disclosed that women of resilience ( WOR) is a movement established to response and report cases of violence against women by also monitoring and documenting all survivors which the organization make use of it to prosecute the perpetrators of the crime .

Nwanye stressed that some of the victims don’t really know their right so the WOR came in as an intervention to provide succor to the plight of violence against women, girls.

The Chairperson, Ngozi Achiletu Representative of FIDA, Barr.  Rhoda Sadus said their voice and agency of women girls to speak out on all forms of violence against women, girls and work with the faith and culture leaders to extract accountability.
