The wife of member federal House of Representative representing Awe, Doma,Keana at the National Assembly, Hajiya Amina Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo has called on parents in Doma local government of Nasarawa state to give ardent attention to girl-child.
The wife of the federal lawmaker gave the disclosure during a thank you visit to the paramount ruler of Doma, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu Ogah and the Magajiyan Doma on the confirmation of Jaruman Matan Doma by Akushini Giyi Wuse.
Amina cautioned parents especially women on the dangers of street hawking by girl-child ,calling for a stringent measure to avert the incessant cases of raping which she said is a global phenomenon.
Hajiya Amina Ogoshi Onawo said she would embark on the second round of skill acquisition with an aim of reducing the increasing cases of over reliance on government.
“We will give prior attention to skill acquisition with the sole aim of addressing poverty in the land”.
“I will emphasize on girl-child education as well as more participation of women in politics by calling on parents to contribute immensely towards actualizing this task”.
“As the custodian of Doma and Alago tradition, I want to assure you that I will remain committed and be supportive to you as the ambassador of peace of our time whose watchword is unity in diversity”.
“I will appeal to women to discourage street hawking which is on the increase on daily basis as street hawking exposes the girl- child to dangers. Your Royal Highness, the issue of rape has been on the increase on daily basis and this menace is associated with street hawking”.
“On behalf of my husband and member Federal House of representatives representing Awe, Doma, Keana Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo I want to assure your Royal Highness that we would expand our frontiers on empowerment through skill Acquisition programme for women of all ages”.
“It could be recalled that in 2009 he trained about 310 women in soap, perfume and candle making and I am assuring women that in no distance time he will embark on the second round of skill Acquisition aimed at minimizing poverty in the land”.
