Joint Union Of Tertiary Institutions In Nasarawa State Calls Off Strike

The Joint Union of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions has suspended it two weeks old strike, the chairman, Arik Samuel Bashayi in an interview at the Secretariat of the union held at Nasarawa State Polytechnic, Lafia said, that the suspension of the strike would pave way for continues efforts to resolved the outstanding issues in contention by April, 2017.

JUNSTI directed that all workers should resume work without further delay; the union said the state government should not what so ever victimized any of it member for playing any role during the strike action.

The Union further hailed it members for their doggedness and astute support during the period of the strike.

At the time of filling this report, the chairman, Arik Samuel Bashayi did not briefed Journalists on which of the demands have been fulfilled but said negotiations would continue.

JUNTSI, it could be recalled went on strike on 5th April demanding for autonomy, return of salary to the various institutions not bureau for salary.

Other demand also include implementation of lingering promotions and the state government agreed to pay fifty (60%) while the institutions source for means through their Internally Generated Revenue to pay 40%.
