Since the return of democracy in 1999 the people of Plateau Central senatorial district have contributed to the growth of politics in Plateau and Nigeria.
The unveiling of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ministerial list is unarguably one of the most keenly awaited developments in the country, not only by Nigerians at home but in the diaspora.
There are indications that the ministerial list would be unveiled after the holiday which will contain the names of the individuals listed by the president to lead various ministries, is a critical component of the President’s vision for the country, and the expectations of Nigerians are indeed very high.
Nigerians say that they are expecting a new cabinet capable to tackle insecurity, and corruption, and bring economic development. They say Nigeria needs competent individuals with a track record of success in their respective fields to drive progress and development.
Plateau central zone has all it takes and is more deserving of a ministerial slot than any zone in the state considering how the zone is been shortchanged since the return to civilian rule, the people of kanam local government council have not enjoyed the privilege of producing anyone in spite of volume positive impact their vote to present and past regime.
However, a group of All Progressives Congress in Plateau Central Zone, known as APC Justice and Equity Group (APCJEG) through its chairman, Mr. SS Danjuma has expressed support for the zone to produce the next minister from the state, for equity, justice, and fairness having produced only one minister in the last 24 years.
The leader of the APCJEG in the plateau central zone said in a press statement.
The central zone has all it takes to be considered for the ministerial position this time considering how the plateau south and northern zones have occupied the position five times apiece as against the plateau central zone one.
To begin with, the Northern zone had been appointed five times with the following names as beneficiaries: 1. Hon. Damishi T. Sango (Riyom LGA)
2.Hon. Mark Aku (Bassa LGA)
3. Hon. Mohammed MUSA Azi (Jos East LGA )
4. Hon. Nakande Dasuki (Jos North)
5. Hon. Sarah Ochekpe (Jos South LGA)
The southern zone has:
1.Amb. Fidelis Tapgun (Shendam LGA)
2.Hon. Josephine Tapgun (Shendam LGA)
3 and 4Dame Pauline Tallen (Shendam ) twice
5.Hon. Barr. Solomon Dallung (Langtang South LGA)
In all of these, plateau central zone only had one short with Amb. Bagudu M Hirse whose tenure was short-lived.
The chairman of the APCJEG, said Plateau Central Zone must unite and speak with one voice, ahead of the ministerial nominations. SS Danjuma urged the central zone not to divide its house as we battle other zones for the cabinet position.
The leader said that all its members in Mangu, Bokkos, Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam are informed to give maximum cooperation while they are to solicit support through the party leadership, stakeholders, traditional institutions as well as religious bodies for blessings and support in order to fight against such brazen injustice and lack of equity being matted against the zone.
He added that for equity, justice, and fair play, our brothers from other zones of should bury their ambitions and support the central zone, the way our governors normally emerge.
“The central zone has all it takes to produce a sound minister, considering the promising political heavyweights of high repute.
The zone equally boasts of long-term friends and close allies of the president who are detribalized, religiously tolerant, and highly exposed politicians who know their onions. We have people who love the growth and development of not just the zone but plateau at large and are blessed with enormous wisdom he said”.
Mr.S S Danjuma however, stated that the struggle for equity, fairness and justice for the plateau central zone is for all who love the zone having been shortchanged several times.
