West African Association Of Small Business Operators Cries Out Over Intimidation And Harassment Of Members In Nigeria

The President of West African Association of Small Business Operators, WASSBO, Alh Yahaya Ali Ali disclosed how their members have been suffering unprotected harassment, intimidation from the hands of security personnel as well as bandits while carrying out their work in Nigeria.

 

Yahaya made this disclosure during their members’ stakeholders meeting held in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

 

He said they are operating a legitimate and legal business that is registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to assist Nigerians access their money without them undergoing stress.

 

Yahaya advised the members to key into the policy of the federal government by ensuring that their businesses are registered with the appropriate authority to avoid embarrassment.

 

He cried out that most of their agent operating POS small business outfit is at the receiving end, saying we have lost millions of naira to fraudsters who have taken advantage of the porous security situation to cajoled them into submitting to them.

 

According to him, the stakeholders’ meeting is to create, enlighten, educate, and to ensure that their businesses are safe from swindlers.

 

He told his colleagues to always disregard those coming with an ATM card that has another person’s name on it.

 

 

The commissioner of police, Plateau State Command, Represented by the DPO Nasarawa Gwom, Jos North A.A Iliya cautioned them against allowing their business premises without the involvement of security personnel.

 

He warned them against staying late at night.
