We Resolved 70-80 Garnishee Cases In 8 Months In Nasarawa State

….Nasarawa now a garnishee free state-Attorney General Uncovered

The Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji has lauded the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule for injecting new ground into the State Judicial system.

The Commissioner gave the hint during an exclusive interview with Universal Reporters as he said the present administration in the State was able to address the rampant cases of garnishee of State Government accounts.

Magaji, Said Nasarawa State is now a State with a garnishee-free history, He however explained that many accounts of the State that were related to court cases are currently active courtesy of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

“You are aware that Nasarawa State is characterized by cases of garnishee and today we can beat our chest that Engineer Abdullahi Sule has changed the narrative”.

While commenting on the number of criminal cases, The Attorney General averred that the Ministry of Justice has a total of 4000 civil and criminal cases.

“The deployment of technology, no doubt is the brain behind our breakthrough, Everything is about pressing a button, meaning garbage in garbage out, I, the Chief law officer of Nasarawa State will tell you the number of civil and criminal cases we have in the State as well knowing the courts those cases were assigned to”.

The Attorney General further buttressed that the introduction of the Case Management System which was the use of an effective device has yielded results in Criminal Justice Administration.

“It is unprecedented to complete criminal cases within the shortest period but under us, we were able to complete five criminal cases which have to do with issues of raping of a minor and kidnapping, those cases are assigned to High Court Obi and Lafia respectively.

He attributed the huge success in the dispensation of criminal cases in Nasarawa State to the set up  Specialized Prosecution Team.

Other reforms according to to Magaji are enhancing the capacity of lawyers in the State.

Capacity building for management staff as well as training and retraining of staff through the instrumentality of Justice, some management staff were able to go to the National Institute For Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru to boost their capacity, While I, The Attorney General of the State represent or I will say I’m amongst the two that represent Nasarawa State in Indian recently”

He reeled out some of the innovations to include the digitalization of courts and migrating from analog to paperless process.

He promised to add value to the system with his wealth of experience gathered at the federal level.

“As a practical Person and a professional, The duty vested on my shoulder is to go to court even if not regularly, and I can tell you such visits also fast-track court matters in most cases”The Commissioner of Justice added.

On the condition of courts in the State, Bar Labaran Magaji revealed that the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has done and is doing the needful by ensuring that courts are conducive for all.

He confirmed that some courts in the State have gone virtual.

The Commissioner of Justice warned potential suspects to turn a new leaf or face the full wrath of the law.

“We will not condone acts that will be trampled on the rights of others”.

He stated that Nasarawa State people should be ready to operate on their lane”.

Bar Labaran Shuaibu Magaji admonished lawyers to be steadfast by frequenting courts at all times.
