We Are Completing More School Projects – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom has assured people of the state of speedy completion of more primary school projects in the state under the partnership between the state through the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, and the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC.

 

He spoke yesterday at LGEA Primary School Orkpe during a funeral oration at the burial of late Chief Gbagyo Orkpe, kindred head of Mbandyer, Mbawa district of Guma Local Government Area.

 

The Governor noted that a second phase of renovation, reconstruction and construction of classrooms blocks and provision of instructional materials to primary schools under the SUBEB/UBEC partnership were underway and would give facelift to more schools in the state.

 

The Governor urged his Special Advisor on Education, Mr. Matthew Mnyam to convey his directive on the renovation of an existing block and construction of a new one at LGEA Primary School Orkpe to the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Philip Tachin for immediate action.

 

He described the deceased as a peaceful, truthful and impartial traditional ruler who was rich in wisdom and exhibited the same attributes while he was in partisan politics.

 

The Governor charged the deceased’s family to emulate his virtues by showing love to all and being fair in their judgment.

 

He told sympathisers at the burial that the 2019 general elections is about the survival of Benue State and preservation of their farmland, stressing that they needed to support him and all candidates under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for sustained peace and to consolidate on his achievements.

 

Member representing Makurdi/Guma federal constituency at the national Assembly, Mr. Dickson Tarkighir while praying God to grant the deceased eternal rest, urged the people to support PDP in the forthcoming elections in order to reclaim their farmland, stressing that Nigerians had not witnessed the kind of hunger being experienced under the APC-led federal government.

 

In separate funeral orations, Tor Lobi and Ter Guma, Chiefs Moses Anagende and Ivokor Unongo respectively, represented by Mue Ter Iharev in Guma LGA, Chief William Ato, Chief John Azulo and Mr. Cletus Upaa, all acknowledged the firm stance of Governor Ortom to ensure they retain their land, even as the condoled the bereaved family over the their father’s death.

 

Special Advisor to the Governor on Education, Mr. Matthew Mnyam, Commissioner I at the Benue State Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Ahen Akaakuma and the Secretary, Ortom/Abouno Campaign Organisation, Dr. Cletus Tyokyaa, prayed for the peaceful repose of their father, late Gbagyo Orkpe.

 

They urged their people to support the reelection of Governor Samuel Ortom in 2019, stressing that it was a mockery on their displaced brothers for people contesting for Governor ask them to defect to the APC when they cannot access their homes for over a year.
