Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University Promises Repositioning With New Faculties To Address Challenges

The Vice Chancellor University of Bokkos Prof. Yohanna Izam has said, at least 16 courses have been introduced and that they are now waiting for NUC accreditation with renovation going on to meet the target of repositioning of staff and students with e-library which will soon be completed for it to accommodate some of the new faculties.

 

He said, since assumption of office as the fourth chancellor of the state-owned university were a lot of reform, restoration and transformation is taking place.

 

Speaking to some session of Journalists at his Residence along Lamigo junction of Jos North  Local Government  Area of Plateau State he said normalcy has been restored back with academic activities picking up with prompt payment of staff salary under the rescue government of Gov Lalong led administration.

 

According to him,  the University embarked on roads network construction building of new facilities to meet the international standards of the modern university with the reappointment of Prof Atahiru Jega as chairman pro chancellor on  4th. March 2018 to help consolidate on the current achievement in the area of academic. Pursue.

 

He explained that he plans to reposition the Plateau State University of Bokkos as one of the leading universities in Nigeria and to also embark on research which will bring in the viability of the science oriented institution.

 

He stressed that the future of the University is bright, adding that;  “my vision of trying to maintain standards cannot be compromised by any means with the research and post graduate courses that are underway, they will showcase the potential of meeting the aspiration of Modern learning.

 

Prof Yohanna Izam said the as a university is sited in Butura community the immediate people to benefit are the youths in the community where the University Senate has concluded plan in training them on skill acquisitions for them to be productive to the society.

 

“I shall make it a research institution that can run post graduate studies that all courses would betake to deepen the present day knowledge breakthrough, we are looking forward competitive brand of quality in terms of facilities and standard best practice.”

 

He described as cordial the existing relationship between the University and the host community where they have been interacting peacefully with one another in the area of community service for them to reach partnership.

 

He assured the union of the University of Bokkos of commitment and transparency if the union continue to maintain a good working relationship with the management of the institution.

 

He disclosed that as Vice-chancellor he has placed a high premium on the welfare of the staff and building mutual respect with all a sundry.
