Ustaz Adam Emerges As The New Jos Central Mosque Imam

Jos-Central-MosqueSheikh Lawal Adam has now been confirmed as the Chief Imam of Jos Central Mosque, just as an area court judge Ustaz Ghazali Ismaila Adam is to serve as deputy Imam.

The two decisions were reached Thursday at the joint executive committee meeting of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Jos North Local Government Chapter and the Jos Central Mosque Committee, held at the board room of its Secretariat.

Our  correspondent, on  Thursday confirmed that, the JNI Secretary for Jos North Ustaz Aminu Sadis, said the meeting endorsed the confirmation of the former deputy chief Imam Sheikh Lawal Adam to the position of the chief Imam.

It said the JNI;”in conjunction with the Jos Central Mosque committee has approved the confirmation of Sheikh Lawal Adam (The former deputy imam), as the new substantive chief Imam and Ustaz Ghazali Ismaila Adam as the new deputy chief Imam, (Nai’bi), and that “The decision was reached today being 28 day of May, 200, after wider consultations with key stakeholders and other Islamic groups.”The release said the JNI prays for the successful tenure of the new chief Imam and his deputy and they counsel the chief imam to continue to display the rare traits and spiritual qualities he is known for.

“We pray for the repose of the soul of the late chief Imam Sheikh Zakariyya Balarabe Dawud'” it read in parts.

‪Sheikh Lawal Adam has been the deputy chief Imam of the Jos Central Mosque since 2009, who replaced the late chief Imam Zakariyya Balarabe Dawud, having been confirmed after the death of late Sa’idu Hammajan  as the chief Imam.According to a source within the JNI, the decision to appoint the new deputy imam Ustaz Ghazali Adam was arrived unanimously.Further information that reached our correspondent said, Sheikh Khalid Aliyu Abubakar the JNI Secretary-General, the new Chief Imam Sheikh Lawal Adam, Shiekh Abdual’azeez Yusuf, the state deputy chairman of JNI who is also the chairman Jos Central Mosque Alhaji Garba Abdulaqadir, Shiekh Abubakar Bafullace, as well as many other Ulamau were present at the meeting.

‪The source said: “The meeting was jointly held between the JNI and the Mosque Committee,” stressed that; “two other contenders for the position of the deputy imam were earlier on disqualified and had all accepted,” the decisions of their disqualification and subsequent selection of Ghazali.

Ustaz Ghazali was until his selection as deputy imam an area court judge with the Plateau State judiciary, a son to the former Grand Khadi of the state, late Ismaila Adam.

Sheikh Lawal Adam succeeded, Shiekh Zakariyyya Balarabe Dawud who died last Sunday after an illness.
