Unpaid 4 Months Of Imo Pensioners By Gov.Uzodinma, Retirees Protests In Owerri

Over one thousand retirees who are pensioners was on Tuesday 26th June 2020 in Owerri, blocked the Imo Government House  protested against their 4 months nonpayment of their pension arrears by the Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma.

 

Speaking,the Chairman of Imo Pension Intervention Committee, Comr.Iyke Ohanaeji,who spoke on behalf the pensioners in the state, expressed disappointed over what he described as ungodly, unlawful and height of wickedness against their nonpayment of their 4 months pension arrears by Gov.Uzodinma.

 

“We have been hungry, many of us are dying. No money to eat. Our children are hungry. The government of Uzodinma should pay us our unpaid pension arrears. We should be given our hard earn labour. We cannot labour in vain”,Ohanaeje stated.

 

Meanwhile, the Secretary Govt.of Imo State,Sir.Cosmos Iwu, who addressed the aggrieved protesters, appealed to then to have some little patience by the govt.of Uzodinma, even as he insisted that the delay in their unpaid arrears was as a result of fake and unverified persons (ghost pensioners) captured on the verification exercise and falsifications of so many BVN.

 

The Secretary Govt.of Imo State, SSG,  Sir.Iwu, therefore assured that they would be paid before the weekend, but appealed to them to go home safety and continue to pray for the administration of shared prosperity govt.

 

Meanwhile, the protesters during their peaceful demonstration vowed to reengage on another level of protest if the govt.failed to pay them by the weekend.

 

The protesters more so, laid all kinds of dangerous aspersions on Gov.Hope and even they prayed God Almighty punish the Governor for owing their them.
