UNIJOS Students Demonstrates Increase Of The Acceptance Fee By Yakubu Busari,Jos

Students of the university of Jos yesterday protested over the alleged increase of 25 ,000 acceptance fee by the management .

The peaceful demonstration which lasted for one hour by the student union body demanded the university management to reverse their decision.

The students President, Comrade Abel Noel Nok lamented that the management had added 10,000 developments levy and 25,000 acceptance fee where buses are being abandoned without used.

He added that since they students are paying their development fee, no development is taking place so we are appealing to the authority to consider their decision in the interest of academic activities.

Meanwhile ,Jilli-Dandam, D. ESQ the Registrar of the University of Jos expressed displeasure over the unfortunate development at the Bauchi Road Campus on Monday 24th November, 2014.

Dandam added that management met on Monday 24th November, 2014 and reviewed the situation and would want to state as follows:

That there is no intention to review upwards, any school charges and appealed to all Students, Parents and Guardians to disregard any rumors going round to the contrary.

He stressed that the Second Semester Examinations have been shifted from 24th November, 2014 to 1st December, 2014.

According to him, a seven-Man Committee has also been constituted to look into the Student complaints with a view to making recommendations to Management for consideration.

He ,however , pointed out that students are hereby advised to remain calm and continue with their revision exercise.

Dandam noted that the management solicits the cooperation  and support of all stakeholders in order to resolve all the contending issues.
