- Agenda aimed at producing next Owerri West lawmaker in 2023
As part of their continuous readiness, passion, and call for equity in the legislative arm of government in their local government, a well-known political pressure group recognized as “Umunawoha Leaders of Thought”, have deemed it apt and necessary to ensure their own political bloc produces the next lawmaker for Owerri West State Constituency in 2023 at the Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA.
To actualize their political desires strategically, the group which is made up of notable intellectuals, business moguls, political juggernauts, technocrats, and academia from the bloc under the aegis of Umunwaoha Leaders of Thought has strictly decided to enthrone their own son or daughter into the position of authority as the next lawmaker in 2023 irrespective of the person’s political party affiliations.
The Convener, Umunwaoha Leaders of Thought, Hon.Evang.Tony-Gray Okpe, in a chat with newsmen, expressed satisfaction on the enviable heights of political awareness so far established by the people of Umunwoha concerning who they should send to the State House Assembly to represent Owerri West in 2023.
Evang.Okpe, while speaking, re-emphasized that the 2023 House of Assembly seat for Owerri West LGA belongs to the people of Umunwaoha as a clan in the council and that APC must as a matter of fairness abide by the political system of zoning in the Local Government for the general interests of the party and the people.
Evang.TonyGray, as part of his efforts to ensure the actualization of the bloc’s political dream, has therefore invited members of Umunwaoha Leaders of Thought for an all-inclusive meeting so as to discuss on the way forward ahead of the 2023 polls.
“Top on their agenda will be the issue of the Imo State House of Assembly seat which is now the turn of the people of Umunwaoha bloc in Owerri West State Constituency in 2023;
It has been a rotation pattern from one bloc to another in the three blocs (Arah, Ochie and Umunwaoha blocs) as an unshaken tripod stand in Owerri West;
It is obviously on records that since 1999, no individual has returned for 2nd term in Imo House of Assembly in the entire Owerri Federal Constituency”, Evang.Okpe revealed.
The meeting will hold at the palatial residence of one of their apex leaders, Hon.Evang.Tony-Gray Okpe, (Nwanrupuoaku) on Easter Monday to reach far-reaching political decisions as it relates to the upcoming elections.
According to Okpe, “You may recall that the issue of House of Assembly in a Local Government is regarded more than that of the Senatorial or Governorship by the local dwellers;
Umunwaoha bloc in Owerri West LGA is a group of accommodating people that have capable men and women from the bloc to represent Owerri West in the State House of Assembly and are willing to bring back the dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking further, Evang.Okpe said, ” All the political leaders of Umunwaoha extraction are coming home for the meeting where after the summit, a communiqué would be released in the spirit of fairness, equity and justice in Owerri West”.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity, called and invited members of Umunwaoha Leaders of Thought for the meeting.
