Transport: Nasarawa State Govt To Introduce Jetties In Tunga, Umaisha and Loko Waterways

Nasarawa state government has reiterated its commitment through the intermodalising of the transport sector by introducing jetties (flying boats) in Tunga, Umaisha and Loko waterways.

The state commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr.Yahaya Wada stated this when the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists paid him a sallah homage at Keffi.

The commissioner maintained that the state governor has resolved to introduce jetties in waterways in three communities within water front.

Engr Wada buttressed that the introduction of flying boats would ease the trepidation faced by water users,adding that jetties are faster in the transportation of goods and service as well at an affordable charges.

“With Jetties the transportation of farm produce from Tunga,Umaisha and Loko to Lagos and other part of the country would be easier and at low cost”.

While reacting on the ongoing 64km Kwandare-Abuja new road following the reaction that the new road would excise Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon ,the commissioner hinted the good intention of governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is to pave way for faster development.

“Our aim was to fast track development to communities within that axis, adding that the state government is determining to link up more communities”.

“Is part of the covenant between governor Al-Makura and the electorate ,I’m against the ongoing rumors that the opening of the new road would undermine development or sideline Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon is not true.

The commissioner for Works and Transport rate governor Al-Makura high for the execution of projects that has direct impact on the lives of the citizenry.

Saying the 6 years of governor Al-Makura is far better than the period taxpayers money are been wasted ,he attributed the string of success recorded to the effective utilization of resource by the state government.

“The current regime would not left any stone unturned in the completion of projects and abandoned projects, Engr Wada hinted.
