The Chief Prosecuting Officer of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources on Environmental Sanitation,Dr.Abubakar Mohammed says ahead of the prediction by the Nigeria Meteorological Management Agency (Nimet) of heavy downpour within 28-29th of July and 19,20 of August, 2025 has revealed that no fewer than 158 households within the riverine communities of the State were evacuated to a safer place.
The Chief Prosecuting Officer gave the hint during an interview at the end of July sanitation exercise at the State Ministry of Environment and National Resources on Saturday.
Saying the effort was meant to avoid any casualty of lives and destruction of properties as he listed some of the flood prone communities of Ijiwo in Doma Local Government, Loko in Nasarawa Local Government, Tunga in Awe Local Government.
Stating that other frantic effort of the Ministry was to clear illegal structures along waterways to avoid flood across the thirteen Local Governments and eighteen Administrative Area Councils of the State.

In a related development,the Chief Prosecuting Officer of Environmental sanitation confirmed that a total number of 118 were nabbed for violating monthly sanitation exercise.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry who represented the Commissioner, Honorable Magrete Itake Elayo in an interview expressed concerned over the way and manner how traders display their goods on bare ground at Kasuwan Koro.
He added that the flyover side was lither with banana pills,he also decried the flouting of sanitation exercise at Lafia Modern market for not complying with the sanitation law.
