TIV Community In Nasarawa South Decries Total Neglect By Government, Appeals For Security, Creation Of Chiefdom

Indigenous TIV community in Nasarawa South senatorial district has described the total neglect by successive government as a serious setback to TIV nation.

 

The Youth President of the Association, Peter Ahemba disclosed this during a meeting with the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance held at Amikielo Hotel along Shendam road, Lafia.

 

The leadership of the Association says TIV community constituting 30 percent of the population were delegated to the background by past and current administrations.

 

Appealing to the former Minister of Information to consider TIV community by providing security in the five Local Governments in Nasarawa South senatorial district comprises of Doma, Awe, Keana, Obi and Lafia, the seat of Power.

 

Ahemba further revealed that the entire TIV communities have been deserted due to the alarming rates of attacks by Fulani mercenaries displacing communities at will.

 

Appealing to Labaran Maku if elected the next governor of the state come 2019 to attach utmost importance to the security of lives and properties of his people.

 

“TIV communities are homeless due to the alarming rates as all TIV settlements were abandoned while farms are now a grazing land for herders”.

 

He further emphasized on the need to create TIV chiefdom in Nasarawa South senatorial district as he said absence of TIV chiefdom is a sign of total neglect by government.

 

“The creation of chiefdom would give us a sense of direction and recognition in the traditional institution as no single TIV was represented in taken serious decisions”.

 

“If all the requests are considered, sky would be the starting point for TIV communities in Nasarawa South senatorial district”he added.

 

Labaran Maku while reacting commended the leadership of TIV Youth wing for the eloquent presentation.

 

He buttressed that his first priority would be total peace in the entire state, adding that he would put his life on the line for peace to reign.

 

APGA governorship candidate attributed the unabated ethnic cleansing to politics, as he said people of Nasarawa state whether indegine or settlers deserved Justice at all times.

 

He says political appointment would only be based on merit, he however maintained that non-indigenes with requisite knowledge and experience would be considered.

 

“Our government would consider result oriented people to deliver good governance which will be a far departure from what is on ground”.

 

Labaran Maku while addressing Alago and Migili youth maintained that APGA would focus on rebuilding of Assakio community as well uniting the people.

 

In a same vain, the erstwhile minister of Information who visited Igbo Community Association at Igbo Hall in Lafia challenged Igbo’s to start the process of integration.

 

He tasked Igbo’s to change the current narrative by considering themselves as Indeginious tribes in the state.

 

Maku commiserate with ICA over the gas explosion that killed over 16 people in Lafia.

 

ICA President applauded APGA candidate said the Association would stand firm by any aspirant that would accord impetus to the plight of his people.

 

Other communities that held a meeting with the former minister also include Wakma Community in Agyaragu.
