President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has slammed appointment on Senior Special Assistant ,SSA, to Yakubu Jang as he charged citizens of Plateau State to unite together and foster unity amongst the stakeholders to defeat their common enemy of the State that are causing insecurity to the state .
Tinubu Represented by the Vice President Kashim shettima on Saturday at the 80th anniversary birthday of Sen.Jonah David Jang autobiography book launch in Jos.
He admonished the people of Plateau State to work in love and unity to defeat criminal coming to harvest the lives and property of the innocent citizens .
Shettima said life is not measured by the number of different offices you occupy in your lives but the impact you torched in the lives of those people surrounding you .
He emphasized that the Former Governor Jonah David Jang is not only a father to Plateau State but that go beyond the State ,God has positioned the sons and daughters of Plateau State in all fields of endeavor both in the military and in civilian regime.
According to him, it is sad that most of the younger generation spent the rest of their lives in fears especially the complexity of the country insecurity bedeviling the length and breadth of the States .
He disclosed that history has been generous to this State producing great leaders ,politicians, farmers, traders and civil servants and Sen .Jonah David Jang emerged through this groups of struggling families .
Kashim explained that a farmer from Riyom LGA depended solely on the protection of unity to be stronger so that family tide and unity of oneness goes beyond an individual.
He condemned that these criminals operating in Nigeria don’t have religious ,tribes and they don’t even identify with any group once they are operating by destroying lives and property, and this goes behind tears .
Kashim noted that Plateau State is miniature Nigeria were it play host to NIPSS, ITF,NVIR,Remode sensing and others Federal institutions but some criminal elements are not happy to it .Skip to content
Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ngo Josephine Piyo, on Saturday paid glowing tribute to former Governor of Plateau State and elder statesman, Senator Jonah David Jang, describing his eight decades of life as an enduring testament to selfless service, principled leadership, unwavering faith and an uncommon commitment to nation-building.
Piyo made the remarks while delivering her welcome address at the public presentation of Senator Jang’s photographic biography, “Airman to Politics : My Witty Life,” an event that heralded the former governor’s 80th birthday celebration.
The ceremony, held on August 1st, 2026, at the Tamarald Event Centre along Old Airport Road, Jos, attracted political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, retired military officers, associates, family members and admirers from across the country.
Welcoming the distinguished guests on behalf of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Plateau State Government and its people, the Deputy Governor expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God for preserving Senator Jang to witness the remarkable milestone.
She described the occasion as far more than a birthday celebration, saying it was a historic moment to honour a life whose impact has transcended generations and left an indelible imprint on Plateau State and Nigeria.
According to her, the launch of the biography provides an opportunity for present and future generations to reflect on the extraordinary journey of a man whose life has been defined by sacrifice, discipline, courage and visionary leadership from the military to the political arena.
Tracing Jang’s remarkable career, Piyo recalled that he first distinguished himself as a respected officer of the Nigerian Air Force, where he served the nation with honour, discipline and professionalism before assuming greater responsibilities as Military Governor of Benue and later Gongola states.
She noted that his visionary leadership during those assignments laid enduring foundations that continue to influence governance years after his tenure.
She observed that Senator Jang seamlessly transitioned from military service into democratic governance, serving as Governor of Plateau State with distinction and leaving behind visible legacies in infrastructure development, institutional reforms, peace-building initiatives and people-oriented policies that continue to shape the state’s development trajectory.
The Deputy Governor further described the former governor as a political institution whose greatest legacy lies not only in the offices he occupied but in the countless leaders he nurtured over the years.
According to her, many accomplished politicians and public office holders across Plateau State proudly trace their political tutelage to Senator Jang’s leadership philosophy.
“Senator Jonah David Jang did not merely raise followers; he deliberately built leaders,” she said, adding that the elder statesman consistently taught that the true measure of leadership is not the number of people serving a leader but the number of people empowered to serve humanity.
Piyo also extolled Jang’s reputation for integrity, noting that his words have always commanded respect because they are anchored on honesty, character and conviction.
She maintained that throughout his public service, the former governor remained steadfast in defending principles that promote justice, peace and the common good.
Beyond his distinguished military and political career, she described Senator Jang as a humble servant of God whose unwavering faith has shaped his personal life, influenced his leadership style and sustained him through seasons of triumph and adversity alike.
She further commended the elder statesman for his remarkable ability to forgive, reconcile and place the collective interest above personal grievances, stressing that such virtues remain the hallmark of truly great leaders. According to her, his calm disposition, quiet strength, courage and resilience have earned him admiration across political, religious and ethnic divides.
Describing Senator Jang as “calm yet courageous, gentle yet firm, reserved yet resolute and impossible to ignore,” the Deputy Governor said his life remains a masterclass in honour, resilience, patriotism and selfless leadership worthy of emulation by younger generations.
She added that the unveiling of “Airman to Politics: My Witty Life” serves not only as the documentation of an extraordinary personal journey but also as an important historical record that captures the evolution of leadership, governance and public service through the life of one of Plateau State’s most accomplished sons.
Piyo concluded by congratulating Senator Jonah David Jang on attaining the age of 80, praying for God’s continued grace, sound health and strength upon him.
She also thanked the dignitaries whose presence at the event reflected the immense respect, admiration and affection the former governor enjoys across Nigeria, describing the celebration as a fitting tribute to a statesman whose legacy will continue to inspire generations yet unborn.
