The Plateau State Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Yusuf Babayo Gagdi has berated those who are peddling rumour against his personality as faceless people.
The member representing Kantana constituency said “I totally disagree to what is in the press statement, I had constantly paid visits to my constituency almost five times since I took oath of office, he said.
The deputy speaker stressed, he have been meeting with the stakeholders, even tomorrow Tuesday in Garga, those people that didn’t vote for me, I know how politically motivated they are coming with rented crowd to blackmail my personality.
Gagdi stated further that; “quote me anywhere, I have never sponsored issue of attack in Kantana constituency or spoke about Boko Haram, and all these were that done by mischief makers.
He cautioned that the statements was made on the floor even if they claimed that cannot be used against me, the only thing is to campaign to block my reelection.
Gagdi vowed that the commissioner is a joker, he was in APC then I was in PDP and I went ahead to defeat him, now I’m not afraid that I defected to APC I will still win anytime any day.
According to him, there was incident of armed robbery attack and one officer was killed, seven guns carted away ammunitions and criminal were freed and I raised urgent matter of public importance, instead of praising me they are now blackmailing me.
Meanwhile, the Kantana constituency Elders concerned Group of Kanam Local Government Area in Plateau State has linked the Deputy Speaker, Hon Yusuf Babayo Gagdi with the Boko Harm terrorist group.
Spokesman for the concerned group, Alh Ibrahim Aliyu Bawa made this disclosure during a press conference held at the NUJ, Plateau State council on Monday.
He accused the deputy speaker of making unguarded utterances and being disrespectful to the traditional institution in the LGA by not following the guidelines of emirate council.
Bawa said, as concerned citizens of Garga district in Kantana constituency in Kanam LGA, we are delighted to have this opportunity to speak to the world against the unguarded utterances, fictitious horrible and malicious allegation labelled against the good peaceful people of Garga.
The group alleged that on the 24th January, 2017, the deputy speaker moved a motion of public important seeking to declare Garga district as “a place of abode for Boko Haram and were sighted there because we share border with Yankari Game Reserve which as he said is linked to Sambisa Forest “, He went on to add that we have boundary with Bauchi and Gombe states.
“We feel very much ashamed and guilty that our representatives in the respected plateau state House of Assembly is ignorant of the boundaries of the area of his legislative jurisdiction”, he explained.
Bawa said, these allegations are malicious misleading and tantamount to dent the peace loving good people of Garga district and the entire Kantana constituency in Kanam LGA who have no time been involve in rancorous, uncivilized, riots, lawlessness and all sorts of political economic upheaval.
