Ibrahim Ahmed, the state Commissioner of Budget and Planning disclosed this to Newsmen recently during the breakdown of 2017 budget in Lafia.

He added that the directive by the state government to all tertiary institutions to complied by its policy of Treasury Single Account (TSA) in still on course.

The commissioner explained that the state government has granted financial autonomy to State University Keffi and other three tertiary institutions in the state.

According to him, the government has deliberately granted the state university Keffi and other three tertiary institutions financial autonomy to enable them meet up their financial demands.

“The financial autonomy would enable the institutions meet up their financial demands and also ensure sound academic standard.

“Despite this, the state government would still continue to provide subvention regularly as part of its contribution to the higher institutions in the state.

“The higher institutions are by this decision required to prepare their own annual budget, summit it to their respective governing council for vetting,” he said.

He explained that after the vetting by their various governing council, they would forward it to the Ministry of Budget and Planning for endorsement before presentation to the assembly for approval.
