Prompted by an uncomplimentary remark credited to Gabriel Toby for describing the just concluded Governorship election in Rivers State as “a coup”, the State chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said it’s unfortunate that such remark should be coming from an elder statesman who ought to be more reasonable and responsible in his public utterances.
Bro Obuah said it’s shocking and self-indicting that a person of Toby’s status who voluntarily and gladly participated in the said election which evidence is public knowledge could turn around to criticize same election the way he did, because his party, APC lost.
This attitude to the PDP State chairman, shows that Mr Gabriel Toby’s personality has a question mark and goes further to explain the origin of his adopted daughter’s (Ibim Semenitari) discourteousness and indiscipline.
According to Obuah, Gabriel Toby ought to have known that his support for any candidate in any contest is a big minus because he has no electoral value to commander any followership not even in his immediate large family.
Continued the PDP State Boss: the much Mr Gabriel Toby could be remembered for, is self enrichment while he served as Deputy Governor for 8 years, he never cared beyond his nuclear family which is responsible for his early consignment into oblivion a few years after leaving office.
Therefore, joining forces with aggrieved bad losers to adjudge the election he participated in as “a coup” is not only escapist but also face-saving, Prince Obuah declared.
The PDP State chairman counseled that rather than make caricature of himself public, Mr Toby should keep sealed lips, stressing that the insults attracted by his adopted daughter as the worst Information Commissioner ever recorded in the history of Rivers State is enough humiliation.
Signed:
Jerry Needam
