The Zaar Youths Development Association ZAYODA in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state has condemned the attack on Num village that claims three lives and demands justice.
Comrade Ga’ Allah Daniel who is the National Leader of the Association made the condemnation in a press release signed and issued to newsmen on Thursday, It would be recalled that the incident happened on Monday 9th May 2022 at about 8-30 pm.
According to the National Youth leader of the association, the ugly incident claimed three lives, leaving some persons with various degrees of injury.
While sympathizing with the families affected and the entire Zaar land over the incident, Comrade Daniel said that the security agencies whose primary assignment is to protect lives and properties need to wake up and redouble efforts toward fulfilling their task.
The youth leader who also called on Zaar communities to wake up from slumber, charged them to be proactive in community vigilance and to be reporting any suspicious movements to the security agencies.
“We also want to call on all the Communities bordering Zaar land to synergize with one another for better information through alerting each other to avert being caught unawares to evil-minded persons”, he said.
Comrade Daniel who called on the Bauchi state government to take appropriate action toward curtailing such barbaric act recalled that similar incidents were recorded last year.
“We experienced a series of attacks on our people during the farming season last year, and now that this year’s farming season is setting in, we have started witnessing it again with this present attack”, he lamented.
Comrade Daniel while calling on the youths to remain calm, urged them not to take laws into their hands, praying to God to expose the perpetrators of the heinous act.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the incident, saying that three people were killed in the affected village by gunmen who attacked residents of the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi state command, SP Ahmed Wakil, told journalists in a telephone conversation that two others were seriously injured in the incident and are being treated at a hospital.
“We received a distress call on the 9ty May, 2022 at about 21.30pm that some hoodlums armed with AK-47 rifles stormed Num area of Sara village of Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state, opened fire on some people, causing the death of three people”, the PPRO said.
The PPRO who gave the names of the deceased to include, Samaila Bello, Male; Kefas Sarki, Male and Paulina Alhamdu, Female, added that Gode Bulus, Male, and Zakka Mayo, Male, were badly injured.
SP Wakil said, “intensive efforts by the DPO of Tafawa Balewa Division and his team rushed to the scene of the crime where they rescued the two persons and rushed them to the hospital, Tafawa Balewa General Hospital.”
The Police image maker said that the Commissioner of Police has appealed to members of the public to remain calm as efforts are being made to intensify the investigation.
He said that the CP has directed the Area Commander in charge of Toro local government area to move to Tafawa Balewa to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
SP Wakil said that the CP who called on members of the public to provide the police and other security agencies with intelligent information that will aid their operations, warned that the Force will not be deterred from dealing with all criminal elements that try to test its capacity.
