Our Suspension Was An Assault On Democracy In Nasarawa State –Suspended Lawmakers

Following the aftermath of the twenty minutes free for all melee which lead to the destruction of seats and tables in the assembly and subsequent suspension of six lawmakers by the seventeen members, the six lawmakers have described their suspension as an assault to democracy in Nasarawa State.

After the subsequent adjournment the pro- Sole Administrators lawmakers sneak into the red chamber numbering seventeen hurriedly invoked House rule number 38 suspending the six members.

The majority leader,Hon Tanko Tunga (APC) representing Awe North constituency moved a motion for the suspension of the six members with an overwhelming support.

The estranged members are;

Hon.Musa Ali (APC) from Keffi

Hon.Makpa Mala (APC) representing Wamba

Hon.Muhammed Kukwu

Hon.Ogbere Kana (APC) Kokona West

Hon.Kassim Muhammed Kassim (APC) Akwanga West

Hon.Murtala Sodangi (APC) Nasarawa

The spokesperson of the anti-Sole Administrators in the state House of Assembly,Honorable Makpa Mala said the action of the seventeen members is a total abberation and a rape to social Justice, he further explained that the law would take it cause.

“We have contacted our lawyers over the position of our colleagues,We would challenge the decision through legal means.” They also called on the people of the state especially their teeming supporters to remain calm.

The Deputy speaker ,Hon Godiya Akwashiki (PDP) representing Nasarawa Eggon East constituted a three man committee to look into the root of the bribery scandal leveled against the seventeen pro-Sole Administrators by the six factional members.

He directed the cashier of the House of Assembly to pay the suspended members half salary without allowances and other benefits

The committee members are Hon.Muhammed Alkali (PDP) representing Lafia East who will serve as chairman, Hon. Sani Isa (APC) representing Obi 1 and Hon.Peter Mbucho to serve as a committee member.

Further Information revealed that the ailing speaker,Balarabe Ibrahim is in the know the happenings at the assembly complex over the disagreement, as at press time,there were indications that the speaker was with the pro sole Administrator lawmakers.

But the position of Hon.James Dangana (APC) representing Doma South was not known as he was the last to enter the red chamber and the first to leave without saying a single word after seen all the fighting.

Also one of the lawmaker that was either with the pro or anti Sole Administrator members is Hon.Ibrahim Moskolo (APC) Keffi.
