Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have attacked a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) point at Bakin Ruwa, along the Maje border in the Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing three officers.
The attack, which occurred on Thursday midnight, has sparked fear and panic in the area.
According to a reliable source, the officers had taken cover in a mosque close to their point, but the gunmen followed them and began firing sophisticated arms, setting the mosque ablaze while the officers were inside.
The source suspected that the gunmen may have used rocket launchers.
The terrorists also razed the officers’ quarters during the attack.
This incident comes less than a month after a customs officer was killed and official vehicles were burnt at the same Maje border area.
No official statement has been released by concerned authorities as of press time.
The Lakurawa group has been linked to several attacks in Kebbi State, targeting security personnel and civilians.
