Strike: Resident Doctors Paralyzes Activities At ATBUTH Bauchi

Activities were  paralyzed at the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Monday morning in Bauchi, following the Nationwide strike embarked by the body of resident doctors in the country,

 

Our correspondent who went to the Abubakar Tafawa Teaching Hospital Bauchi reported that medical activities in the hospital have been partially paralyzed due to the absence of medical doctors in the hospital.

 

Interviews with some patients on admission at the hospital expressed their worries and concerns over the strike said that action has affected them negatively as most of the doctors are yet to attend to them since in the morning, while some nurses are helping to attend to others.

 

A father of a patient from Misau local government areas at the male ward one Mal. Abdullahi Isa who was still on admission in the hospital said his son had been admitted just yesterday, adding that they just woke up today morning only to be told that Resident Doctors had embarked on an indefinite strike.

 

He appealed to the Doctors and Government as a matter of urgency to kindly look at ways of resolving the strike problems with a view to rescue and save the lives of people especially the common man.

 

Another resident woman of Bauchi metropolis, Maryam Ibrahim, also said her daughter had just been brought to the hospital yesterday, but thanked Gao almighty Allah she was able to deliver, however, we are still on admission to see the health of both the mother and the child before discharging, we just had about the strike issues.

 

” I am appealing in the name of Allah to both the government and the doctors to suspend the ongoing strike, and find an amicable solution to the demands, but not going for a strike which has a negative impact on the citizens.

 

When contacted, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee Dr. Sa’idu Abubakar Kadas, said that the ATBU-TH have to make a quick arrangement towards engaging private consultants to feel in the vacuum being created by the striking resident doctors to attend to major cases at the hospital despite that the hospital management had received a short notice from the National body.
