The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDc, in Plateau State has warned politicians in Plateau State to stop peddling rumours that the commandant is now dabbling into the politics of the state with baseless allegations and to draw unfounded issues to attract sympathy under unreasonable pretense.
It was gathered that the NSCDC Plateau Commandant Dr. Olasupo Solomon, was allegedly accused wrongly by some misguided petitioners for supporting a faction of politician, an assertion the security agency termed as baseless allegations adding that the NSCDC main functions is to ensure peaceful coexistence amongst Plateau citizens.
The State CDPRO DSC Tammola Obasa who refuted the publication credited to an online media in Jos on Friday, said; “We have our men posted across the length and breadth of the state for them to ensure that there is peace amongst religious ,community and tribal affiliation.”
He reminded the general public that the commandant, Dr Olasupo Solomon has never been a politician and has not engaged himself in partisan politics since he was posted to Plateau state so we advise media practitioners to stop linking him with the affairs of politicking beside PDP had her internal wrangling of which he has no knowledge of supporting any faction.
Obasa charged political parties to ensure they play the game of politics without creating unnecessary tension and hatred in the state.
Obasa called on journalists to always cross check their facts before going to press ,saying they have personnel across the 17LGAs with divisional officers in charge of them to safeguard the properties of people. We equally sent personnel to meetings to help securing the venue against disruption of public peace.
“However, even politicians when are conducting their political parties primaries as well when worship centres do their worship, we deploy personnel to control the crowd including town halls and town Union meeting which is also part of our core duties,” he said.
“NSCDC personnel deployed to protect and safeguard public properties can’t go against their duty post function but we urged those writing petition to stop misleading the people.
“NSCDC sent personnel from our headquarters to serve as PAs to politicians who are approved from the headquarters, so the chairman of Langtang North LGA didn’t have civil defense officer attached to him for the purpose of the general public, we can’t provide security to any politician without the knowledge of the headquarters going by our standing order.
According to him, NSCDC can’t take side with any politician during political gatherings and we are to protect lives of Nigerians not to support a group.”
