SSA To Governor Sule On Public Affairs Passes Vote of Confidence On Correspondents’ Chapel Over Unhindered Publicity

The Senior Special Assistant to the Nasarawa State Governor, on Public Affairs, Comrade Peter Ahemba has passed a vote of confidence on the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the State for portraying the current administration under the watchful eyes of the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule Unhindered.
Comrade Peter Ahemba gave the hint during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel during the week.
The SSA said his immediate constituency deserved a commendation due to unhindered Publicity despite some challenges.
Calling on members of the fourth estate of the realm to remain focused in the discharge of their responsibility.
Adding that Governor Abdullahi Sule is aware of the plight of media practitioners especially the Correspondents’ Chapel, Stating that necessary measures were taken to improve on the welfare of practitioners, Urging them to keep the tempo.
While fielding questions from Journalists described the multi-billion naira Lafia flyover and underpass and the State of “the art State Secretariat” as the legacy projects of Engineer Abdullahi Sule’s administration.
“The multi-billion naira Lafia flyover and underpass will not only add aesthetic to the State capital but will go a long way in addressing congestion within Shendam road Junction,Layin Yan Tomatoes amongst other Junctions in the State capital.
“Another legacy project of Engineer Abdullahi Sule was the construction of the State Secretariat which was meant to bring all the ministries under one roof which is known as the three-arm zone will reduce the fatigue of moving files from a far distance, He added.
On the issue of the new minimum wage of N70,000, The SSA said there is no going back on the proclamation of the State Governor on the payment of N70,000.
While commenting on the prevailing rising waves of hunger and poverty which gave room to the present nationwide protest, He commended Youth in Nasarawa State for conducting themselves during the first day of the protest.
Saying protest is a constitutional right of every citizenry, describing the present scenario in other States of the Federation as a riot that resulted in a looting spree.
According to him, “We sincerely thanked our youth for the position taken which can be attributed to less protest in the State”.
On the issue of skirmishes in mining sites across communities, Comrade Ahemba buttressed that necessary measures were taken to avert future crises, adding that, That is why the State Government took a prolific step to quell the situation by banning mining in some mining sites.
“The steps taken were not meant to frustrate the exploration of mining in the State but was done with a good motive to ensure peaceful co-existence in all nooks and crannies of the State “Peter Ahemba added.
On the recent outbreak of skirmishes between Alago and Tiv communal clash in Keana Local Government, Ahemba commended the State Governor for the prompt, decisive, and bold steps taken to address the ugly situation in Keana Local Government.
He said the two warring communities are embarking on a genuine dialogue to end the disagreement headlong.
While answering questions on the Jangwa-Agwatashi crisis over the confiscation of 10,000 hectares of Land by the State Government, Comrade Peter Ahemba said efforts are at top gear by the State Government to compensate Tiv farmers in the area.
On the issue of diversion of Federal Government fertilizer, He said the State Governor directed the Nigeria Police to investigate some Local Governments Chairmen accused of diverting fertilizer.
He in addition averred that any Chairman found wanting must face the full wrath of the law.⁸
On the issue of palliative allocated to Nasarawa State since the inception of the current Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said Nasarawa has received 20 trucks of rice.
“The 20 trucks of rice are the cumulative calculation from day one to date, That is from first, second, third, and the last phase of distribution” He cleared the air.
Speaking on the execution of projects in the last five years, Ahemba averred that every Local Government was carried along.
“No community or communities were lag behind in terms of rural-urban roads, this was also applicable to the improvement in power supply in the State “.
Engineer Abdullahi Sule has donated scores of transformers to communities with the sole motive of improving electricity.
“The improvement in electricity may not be unconnected to the influx of industries in the State” Peter Ahemba disclosed.
On the monthly wage bill of the State, The SSA, however, declined comment and said he would cross-check facts and figures before coming to the Correspondents’ Chapel members for further briefing.
