The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has expressed deep sadness over the death of 26 people in a motor accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
While expressing his sympathy to the family of the departed ones, Dogara, in a press statement signed by his special adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Turaki Hassan, also prayed for the speedy recovery of 11 other people who were injured in the accident.
He urged Nigerians to be careful and patient while driving on the road, saying it is unfortunate that two fatal accidents had occurred at the same area within a week due to high speed overtaking according to reports.
The Speaker also urged the Federal Road Safety Corps to always ensure that Nigerians are adequately sensitized about dangerous areas on the highway so that they will be cautious when on the route.
“I sympathize with all the families of those who lost their lives in the collision and pray that the Almighty God gives their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
I also extend my prayers to those who are recuperating from degrees injuries sustained and pray that God grants them speedy recovery.”
