South East APC Women, Youth Rally For Buhari’s 2019 Re-Election Turns Bloody In Imo

  • Okorocha Goes Mad Over Son In-Laws Guber Bid
  • Supporters Of Uzodinma, Nwosu Clash

Dan Opara

It was a shameful and disgraceful outing on Sat.Jan.12th 2019 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri venue for the South East Women and Youth rally for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, organized by the wife of the Imo State Governor, Nkechi Okorocha.

As supporters of the Imo APC gubernatorial candidate Sen. Hope Uzodinma and the supporters of Gov. Rochas Okorocha’s son in-law who is the candidate of Action Alliance Hon. Uche Nwosu aggressively clashed, creating a bad image in the presence of the wife of the President who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Oludolapo Osinbajo.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that Hon.Nwosu’s supporters (AA people) who have no reason to be at the venue for the event which is mainly for APC members, were said to have felt intimidated with the supporters of Sen. Uzodinma, of APC when they heard them chanting aloud “Hope for Imo” shortly after the arrival of Mrs. Osinbajo.

According to an eyewitness the chanting by Hope’s  supporters angered the supporters of Nwosu, as they brought out weapons and began to harass the supporters of Uzodinma, before the intervention of security agencies.

Earlier in a brief address, Mrs.Osinbajo stated that Imo is an APC state, urging supporters to go all out to vote for all candidates of the party, adding that South East tend to benefit more in the reelection of President Buhari.

Meanwhile Gov. Rochas Okorocha in his speech, told his supporters to vote for Action Alliance, AA candidate who doubles as his son in-law Mr.  Uche Nwosu,  adding that he would have left the party if not for Buhari.

According to Okorocha the National leadership of APC hijacked the gubernatorial ticket of the party given it out to an unknown candidate who is not the masses’ choice, thereby making him (Okorocha) to shift his support for Nwosu whom he described as the best of all candidates.

Meanwhile the APC gubernatorial candidate who was not called upon to speak at the podium ,  told newsmen during a brief interview that his focus at the moment is winning the race, and not to be seen behaving like a “political lunatic”.

Top leaders of the party were absent at the rally, including the Deputy Governor Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, in his speech said Uche Nwosu is APC in spirit but AA in physical, added that his AA son-in law will win election as Governor under AA.

“Uche’s movement in APC from AA is not Anti-Party but a Perfect Alliance. It is Holy Alliance”,Okorocha submitted.

Another negative part of the rally was the sporadic gun shots at the stadium which lasted over 30 minutes while the Imo Governor’s wife was speaking, many were injured as due to the gunshots.
