- Says the Nation, North Should be Proud Of Prof. Adamu Gwarzo*
Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi has visited the newly accredited Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano with a large entourage of about 30 people including the Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Adam, Publisher/Chairman of DESERT HERALD Newspaper, Mallam Tukur Mamu (Dan-Iyan Fika), retired Col Sambo Diri and many others to inspect facilities at the institution.
After the inspection visit and while commenting on what he saw, Sheikh Gumi said the North as it is today did not have the likes of Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo. Gumi said he is very much impressed with the hardwork, resilience and achievements of Prof. Gwarzo at a very young age. Gwarzo according to the revered Sheikh in Islamic jurisprudence has done so much for the North with the heavy investment he made in education.
He said he is surprised by the structures he saw at the new University and the level of preparedness of the institution to start full academic Program. Sheikh Gumi commended Prof. Gwarzo for awarding hundreds of scholarships to Northerners in his sister University in Niger Republic. He said with the intervention and assistance of Gwarzo, many Northerners have successfully graduated as Degree holders reading professional courses such as Nursing, Lab Sciences, Law, Accounting, Economics etc.
Sheikh Gumi had promised to assist Gwarzo and his institution whenever his services or help is required and offered special prayers for the success of the newly accredited MARYAM Abacha Varsity, Kano.
While welcoming SHEIKH Gumi and his entourage, Prof. Gwarzo said he will never forget the gesture of Gumi’s visit to his institution and commended the Sheikh for always standing on the path of truth and justice.
