- Says No Amount Of Threat That Will Deter Him To Change For His Mind, Resolved To Remain In APC
Ex- Minister of Commerce and industry in the second republic , Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf has dragged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Jigawa state before a Federal High Court, Dutse for defamation and character assassination.
Maitama filed the case after the party publicity secretary issues a statement to various media organisation that the party has filed their complained before Jigawa State Police Command demanding the minister to return back the money given to him for the governorship campaign which recently failed accusing the minister that the money given to him was not utilised judiciously.
The two time Senator who recently decamped from PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was piqued by ” a series of malicious, sponsored campaign of calumny” against his person by the PDP, especially the claim that “he absconded with campaign funds”.
According the statement given to the press signed by the Media Consultant of the Ex-Minister, Mohammed Sani Ismail of which a copy was made available to universalreporters247.com said Bello Maitama is seeking for an order of perpetual injunction against the defendants from defaming him, as well as 1 Billion Naira damages. The suit is yet to be assigned.
Accosted by our reporter, an angry Senator Maitama Yusuf dismissed the suggestion that anybody gave him money for campaign as a calculated attempt to drag him into PDP’s latest predicament for getting rejected by the people of Jigawa.”Did they give me cash or cheque”, he demanded rhetorically.
Maitama’s words:-“Sule Lamido will never forgive me because he felt I was the one who brought him down why should he give me money for campaign am I a leader of his party what kind of money there is no specific amount?”
According to the Ex-Senator:- “This is a person who will never want go down alone I swear by Allah this will never relent to want to tear my name u remember 5years ago when he revoked road contract from me and said I had to refund some money which turned to be false so he is just blackmailing me for leaving PDP to join APC and to help in its victory in the just concluded elections so the whole thing is his fabrication”.
In a related development, Governor Lamido has pledged to jail the embattled Senator Maitama before the handing over date, in a text Message sent to him by the governor of which he Maitama forwarded read thus; as ” True I have only 5 weeks to go but I will jail you before I go, we also today at council meeting discussed Garun Gabas road contract and by council authority sent all related documents to EFCC and copied same to Buhari, the president elect”.
However, in a swift reaction, Senator Maitama explained that no amount of threat, intimidation from governor Lamido can deter him, he is just not happy with my defection to APC and if he continue threatening I will exposed some of his shoddy deal so that we will see who will be jail.
