Senate Summons Emergency Session Over Onnoghen

The Senate has summoned an emergency plenary session over the “unconstitutional” suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, over alleged false declaration of assets by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The notice of emergency resumption was issued by the Clerk of the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh.

According to the statement, the lawmakers are requested to resume sitting in plenary on January 29, 2019 by 10am.

Announcing the emergency resumption, the Clerk said: “This to inform all distinguished Senators of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the plenary earlier scheduled for Tuesdat, 19th February, 2019, has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, 29th January, 2019.”
