Sen. Joshua Dariye Sympathizes With Jos Terminus Victims Also Appeals For Immediate Support To The Affected Traders

Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Dr. Joshua Chibi Dariye, has extended his heartfelt sympathy to victims of Tuesday midnight inferno which destroyed over 500 shops stocked with mostly clothings and cosmetics worth millions of naira.

In a condolence message Senator Dariye, who described the incident as most unfortunate, asserted that the situation was one too many, as the fire mishap was coming barely a few months after the Katako Market in Laranto was burnt to ashes.

He sympathized and commiserated with traders, entrepreneurs and victims of the inferno praying God to grant them the courage and fortitude to overcome their huge losses running into hundreds of millions of naira.

The former governor decried the negative impact the disaster would cause the traders, considering the  economic realities of the country and appealed for assistance to enable them overcome the situation.

Senator Dariye implored the market leadership to, as a matter of urgency, employ  whollistic safety measures to arrest the issue of power surge and the need to put off all electrical appliances at the close of business every day.

While commending the authorities of Jos North and the Plateau State government for their prompt response in visiting the market to assess the extent of damage, he appealed for immediate assistance to cushion the effect of the losses incurred by the traders.

He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to come to the aid of the traders whose source of livelihood had been reduced to ashes.

The former Governor urged government to temporarily relocate the traders to an alternative place to enable them start life afresh, pending the conclusion of investigation to ascertain the true cause of the fire outbreak.
