Berom Youths has expressed their reason for rejecting the candidature of Sen. Jonah David Jang ahead of 2019; they called on other youths to distance themselves from his political onslaught.
It was described as a mild drama that spilled out last Saturday, when a group of Berom in Barkin Ladi Local Government Council tried to upset the Sen. Jonah Jang even as he set to start preparation to run for second term to the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.
The drama started when the representative of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of Representive, Hon. Zafania Zifalo, called for the re-election of Hon. Istifanus D. Gyang to the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly ahead of 2019 general polls.
The former governor, not knowing what was in the mind of the youths, Hon. Zifalo’s request sparked an uproar from the over 310 beneficiaries of ID Gyang’s Constituency Outreach/Empowerment Programme held at Gwol Motel Barkin-Ladi, chanting “Senator! Senator!! Senator!!”, while Sen. Jang was still seated there.
It was gathered that when Sen. Jang’s came to deliver his goodwill message, a young man reminded him saying,” Baba you are too old to go back to the Senate. Come back home and look after the children in the PDP” stop masquerading us.
The former governor was said to be upset and somehow furious by the youths’ comments, Sen. Jang, who happened to be from the same senatorial zone with ID Gyang, flamed up cutting his goodwill message saying, ” young man, if you have the guts to talk rudely to an Elder like me, it is possible that you can strip your biological father naked in an open market place”.
It took the intervention of some elders who graced the occasion, to calm down the storm. Although, ID Gyang, is a product of Sen. Jang, when he was Governor of Plateau State and it would be plus for the caucus, if he eventually replaces his mentor.
This remain one of the biggest political trial of Jang after vacating the seat in 2015 ,the youth in Berom land accused him of causing disaffection by focusing on jeopardizing other.
