A civil group, Save Lagos Group (SLG) has dragged the erring Police officers attached to the Monitoring and Anti-Kidnapping Units of the Zone II of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Onikan, Lagos before the Police authorities in the land, including; the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Minister of Interior and host of others, by urging them to caution the said erring Police officers against the contempt of the Court of competent jurisdiction.
The group maintained that the call became necessary because of the way and manner the Police officers dabbled into the disputed land matters which have been before the Court of competent jurisdiction to adjudicate upon, alleging the Police officers of abuse of office,insubordination, extortion, corrupt practices, threat to life of law abiding Nigerians and violation of fundamental human rights of High Chief Abibullahi Lawal, the Baale Ikola Town.
It maintained that the alleged erring Police officers; Corporal Mariam and Inspector Sebastine of Monitoring Unit with Phone number:-08036696064 and Mr. Garba Aliyu of the Zonal Criminal investigation and Intelligent Department with Phone number:-08033706505/08025000300, wrongly and illegally dabble into the disputed Land matter with a suit No:-.TEMP/42905/2019 handling by Barrister Olarewaju Akinbo with phone number:-08162679719.
In a related development, it alleged Inspector Tunde Idris with phone:- +234 8033858021, and Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of Imota Police station, Supol Maku Aderemi(SP) with Phone Number:- +2348034661157, for intimidating ,harassment and illegal arrest and unlawful detention of one Mr. Joel and Mr. Shittu Dairo over trump-up charge in conniving with Land grabbers in the area by illegally terrorizing the Baale of the Araromi Town, High Chief Ismaila Abioye over disputed land property.
These allegations were contained in 2-in-1 Petition Letter dated Monday 25th March, 2019 and signed the SLG’s Convener, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman which was forwarded to the Police and concern authorities over the subject matter for their urgent intervention and copies were made available to newsmen on Monday, requesting for punitive measure against the Police officers for their unprofessional conduct.
According to the Petting letter, the group called for the immediate arrest of these notorious land grabbers who are collaborators of officers attached to Imota Police Station which they are; Kazeem Adebola (Leemo), Apena, Chief Idris,Qadri Ajayi,Abbey Ridder,Hammer Badmus,Daake Shootter and Sammi secretary, adding that the land grabbers knew that the matter on the land in question was before the court of competent Jurisdiction and ignorant is not known to law.
It further warned the Olu of Ikorodu Kingdom to stop poking finger into the eyes of the law, as they known that the Law is not respecter of anybody by making reference to the case of Dansunki vs. Maccido, Oba of Ikoshi in Ketu, Oba of Ibeshe in Ikorodu and host of others so as to serve as a big lesson to Olu of Ikorodu.
“However, it is quite unfortunate and highly embarrassing by the ugly nonchalant conduct of these aforementioned Police officers who always working against the law of the land by ignoring the procedures of the legitimate Court over a matter because of what to eat and collect to their pocket.
“It is pertinent to state categorically that we have not petitioned your good office for petitioning sake but to register our great displeasure over the outburst of buffoonery of these officers but mainly to call for a radical trail and prosecution of the erring officers in order to serve as deterrent to others”, the group submitted.
It therefore threatened to mobilize the good people of the two communities for peaceful demonstration to picket the Zone II Command of the Nigeria Police Force if the necessary action is not taken by the appropriate and concern authority to checkmate the illegal conduct of the aforementioned officers.
