Again, there may have been misinterpretations on the purported enforcement of a Federal High Court, Ibadan, Oyo State judgement against Guarantee Trust Bank in one of her branches in Anambra State.
It will be recalled that on Friday, Innoson Nigeria Limited in a media statement announced that “Innoson Nigeria Limited has obtained a writ of Fifa from the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, against Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to effect the judgment given by the Federal High Court in Ibadan and upheld by the Supreme Court of Nigeria”.
It is very important for the public to understand the fact that the Judgment debt is in respect of a garnishee proceedings against the Bank account of Nigerian Custom Services Board held in the Bank and definitely not against the Bank as an entity.
Guarantee Trust Bank has insisted that ” .. as a law-abiding corporate citizen, it is taking all necessary legal steps to address this situation and ensure that no illegal or fraudulent execution is carried out’.
