Hanny Henry,
Abubakar Bukola Saraki, former Senate President, has commissioned the Federal Housing Estate road network constructed by the Adamawa State Government under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The project, situated within the Federal Housing Estate in Girei Local Government Area, features reinforced concrete drains, culverts, and a 3.5-kilometre stormwater drainage system. It is designed to enhance access, improve mobility, and provide effective flood control within the estate and adjoining communities.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Saraki commended Governor Fintiri for what he described as consistent, people-focused infrastructural development across the state. He praised the governor’s leadership style, describing him as a leader of integrity with a strong commitment to the welfare and development of the people.
Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Governor Fintiri, the former Senate President urged residents of Adamawa State to continue supporting the administration to enable it to deliver greater dividends of democracy.
In his remarks, Governor Fintiri disclosed that the commissioning went beyond the formal handover of a road project, describing it as a reflection of his administration’s deliberate approach to governance anchored on results, accountability, and service to the people.
He noted that the road network would significantly improve daily life by reducing travel time, stimulating economic activities, and strengthening social and commercial connections within the estate and surrounding communities.
Governor Fintiri recalled that the project was flagged off in May 2024 as part of the state government’s effort to address long-standing access and mobility challenges in the area.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing all awarded projects and avoiding abandoned works, stressing that infrastructure development remains central to the state’s long-term growth.
The governor further assured residents that ongoing and future projects across Adamawa State would be executed with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility, adding that no community would be left out of the development process.
Earlier, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, the Commissioner for Works and Energy, described the road network as a critical internal link serving residents, traders, commuters, and service providers within the Federal Housing Estate and its environs.
According to him, the project has reduced travel time, improved road safety, enhanced property values, and created employment opportunities during its construction phase.
He commended the contractors for completing the project ahead of schedule and appealed to residents to safeguard the drainage infrastructure to ensure its durability
