Rural Electrification: Jos Community Appeals To PLSG, Elected Reps, NGOs And  Others To Complete The Project

The Residents of Zot-Waduruk Shen community in Jos South Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State have appealed to the State Government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and members representing Plateau State in the National and State Houses of Assembly as well as the wealthy to help the community complete the Rural Electrification project embarked upon by the community three years ago.

 

The President of Waduruk Community Development Association, Mr. Hwere D. Chuwung made the appeal while addressing community members at the end of the second phase of the rural electrification work in the community.

 

He made a passionate appealed to the state government, NGOs, Management Committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Senator representing Plateau North, I.D Gyang, member representing Jos South and Jos East LGAs in the House of Representatives, Hon. Musa Danchwung, member representing  Jos South LGA in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Fom Dalyop Gwottson and the wealthy to help the community to complete the electrification project, it embarked upon three years ago.

 

 

 

According to him, members of the community have been contributing in the past but the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) has affected their businesses which now made difficult for them to sustain the contributions towards the completion of the electrification project saying the community development association decided to appeal for help from the state and local government, politicians, NGOs and the wealthy in the society to enable the community complete the project.

 

He said: “We’ve laid the poles into the community and started the wiring from Kwang but the wire finished along the way. What we need now is a transformer and additional wires to continue the wiring into the community.

 

 

 

This is where we need the state and local governments, our representatives in the National and State Houses of Assembly, NGOs, and the wealthy to come to our help and complete the electrification of the community. ”

 

The Gwom Zot-Waduruk Shen, Da Rwang Chuwung appreciated the communal spirit exhibited by members of the community towards the actualization of the electrification of the community and point out that smaller surrounding communities are enjoying electricity and other dividends of democracy yet Zot-Waduruk Shen which is part of the host communities to Shen Dam is not enjoying either electricity, pipe-bore water or other dividends of democracy.

 

On his part, the Councilor representing Shen Ward in Jos South Local Government Council (LGC), Hon. Pamson D. Zi said he has presented the matter to the council and assured that the council is determined to help the community complete the electrification and even provide other dividends of democracy to the community but revealed that the council is experiencing financial difficulties.

 

Hon. Zi, Woman leader of Zot-Waduruk, Ngo Asabe Bitrus Dung and Da Dung Hwere Pam appealed to the state government, National and State Houses of Assembly members to help the community with a transformer, drum of wire or even take over the entire electrification project as well as provide pipe-bore water in the community saying these basic social amenities would go a a long way in making life meaningful to the inhabitants of the community.
