Revenue Generation Of Imo: We Shall Hit N2billion Target In 2020, Says IIRS Chairman

The newly appointed Executive Chairman of Imo State Internal Revenue Service, IIRS, by Governor Hope Uzodinma, Prince Emma Onunaku, has assured Imo people (tax payers) and the government of Imo State that the management of IIRS under his watch shall hit the target of about N2 billion as the year 2020 internally generated revenue through his wealth of experiences without stress.

 

The Chairman of IIRS, Onunaku, made assertion last Monday, Feb.17th 2020, in his Owerri office, when some cross section of news hunters stormed him.

Responding to questions on his plans and preparations, Prince Emma, expressed optimism that through his capacity as a well-trained financial manager, that he would professionally block all the revenue linkages, stated that all his predecessors were not professionals, even as promised to reactive all the IGR offices in the 27 LGA’s of the state.

 

He noted various challenges mitigating the growth and increase in the Imo IGR, which he pointed out on the needs for Proper Staffing, Reorientation of worker’s altitude and combination of staff, which according to him revealed that IIRS have different categories of staff.

 

He restated on the needs to reactive the offices of the Board of Internal Revenue in the Local Government Areas for proper and effective generation of revenue.

 

On the issue of touting, the Chairman vowed to reduce the rate of touting but called on those involved to desist, even as noted that his office shall find a way of synergy towards making a palatable means of generating revenue for the state.

 

Onunaku, therefore encouraged Imo tax payers to consistently endeavor to pay their taxes as such would help in the development of Imo State.

 

He further called on Imolites to always register their vehicles,  as he promised to reactivate all the 27 IIRS tax office centers in Imo State.

 

“Imolites outside the state and outside Nigeria should return home to invest in Imo State. Pay your taxes in the areas you are living. You should as well contribute to the growth of Imo State”,Onunaku submitted.
