Retirees Berates NLC President For Not Fighting For Their Plight

Retired Police officers on the Contributory Pension scheme (PENCOM) have commended the National Assembly, over what it described as considerable human face.

The pensioners berated the President of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba, saying he has never spoken to help them.

National Secretary of the retired Police officers, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Silvanus T. Basadeimbo, made the statement yesterday in Jos, after their national meeting held at the Inspectorate mess, in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

He said the fact that the National Assembly, particularly the Senate have listened to their plight and have even made second reading on a bill seeking for their removal from the Contributory Pension Scheme (PENCOM), policy was really a source of joy to them, “hence the need to commend the Senate.”

According to him, the 8th Senate, has been so good to them, having its committee met with them on three different occasions and listened carefully about their all of their problems, “unlike the previous Senate, who had not even cared to listened to us, this present Senate, have to us that they have human face, and that is why we resolved to commend them and further urged them speedy the process of passing the bill for our removal.”

He said both the retirees and serving Police officers are clamoring for their removal, from the PENCOM, and reverted back to the old system.

The Police retirees, berated the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Waba, saying his comment that the Para-military should not be removed, in other to sustain the system, “.The questions are asking him, is do we live some People in the system to die, to sustain the system, or is he suggesting that we are seeing a hand writing on the wall that someone us been sponsored?”

ASP Basadeimbo, said the Police and the Para-military have never been with the labour, and Comrade Wabba, have never, “spoken anything to help the Para-military, why now suddenly he is talking, we look at it as a statement that is not worthy to come from a respected person like Wabba, and if it was a slipped of the tongue he should withdraw it.”

ASP Basadeimbo, reemphasized that, “a retiree should not suffer to die, just to sustain the system.”

He said Comrade Wabba, should centered himself with the problems of the workforce and the N56, 000, minimum wage.

The retirees said they have offers special fasting and prayers for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ill-health and overall good of the country.
