Retired Police Officers Threaten Nationwide Protest If They Are Not Removed From Contributory Pension

Retired police officers in Kano State have threatened to embark on a massive nationwide protest if they are not removed from the Pension Contributory Fund and moved back to the National Pension Commission, AIT News is reporting.

The retirees said they have been denied their pension and gratuities over years and called on the Federal Government to consider their plight.

They said despite giving their best during the days of their service to the nation, the federal government has chosen to treat them with disdain.

Regina Aliyu is one of the retirees struggling to survive, she retired 10 years ago and presently receives N30,000 monthly, as against her expected pension.

They also described the situation as unacceptable and called on the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba, to address the challenges faced by serving police officers

It would be recalled that last month, the Retired Police officers in Kano rejected the Contributory Pension Scheme, describing it as fake and illogical.

The retired police officer expresses their position after holding a prayer session to seek divine intervention over their struggle, which has led to the death of 37 members.

The retired police officers at the prayer session carried placards with inscriptions such as, ” Mr. President, we solicit for your fatherly intervention, we don’t want PENCOM”

The Secretary of the retirees, Saidu Garba, accused the Federal Government of sending their gratuity to various companies that have been doing business with it and demanded full payment of their gratuity.

The retirees said, they will continue to seek God’s intervention, as they press home for their demands.
