Dan Opara

Following the supposed disobedience of some people in Imo State, in particular, to adhere to the Sit At Home Order by the authority of IPOB in Southeast, in general, every Monday, residence of Irete/ Orogwe in Owerri West LGA, with those in Ogbaku in Mbaitoli LGA and some parts of Egbu Road in Owerri North areas of Imo State, at about 10:23 am, took to an exercise of running helter-scatter due to the phobia of the killings by dreaded members of the proscribed IPOB.

Our Reporter who visited Irete – Orogwe- Ogbaku – Control Post and Egbu Road in Owerri at about 2:06 pm same Monday, confirmed that motorists, commuters,  pedestrians, and some other road users were seen on scanty movements.

At the ever-busy Douglas Road and Bank Road Axis, all the Commercial Banks were under lock and key.

Information had it that some members of IPOB therein stormed Ogbaku Market along Owerri/ Onitsha Express Way forcing traders, shop owners, schools to close down and go home by force or die.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the dreaded men of IPOB moved into action as part of ensuring their enforcement order.

The sources who spoke to newsmen disclosed that the proscribed operators of IPOB were seen dressed on black attires with highly sophisticated weapons, removing signposts and advertising boards for businesses at Ogbuagu Market Area.

But after all, so many people forcefully obeyed and scampered for their lives to their various abodes.

Shops at Irete, Control Post, Owerri/Onitsha Road were locked and shut down by the owners.

Recalled that businesses at Weathral Road, ShopRite, and Old Fire Service Junction down to Mbaise Road to Aba Road Axis were under lock and key.

Meanwhile, so many residents of Owerri who spoke to newsmen anonymity described the helter-scatter running as linked and triggered by rumour mongers who does not want the progress of the Shared Prosperity Government of the Imo State Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma.

A resident of Owerri who doesn’t want his name to be mentioned insisted that the opposition political parties are paddling the rumors just to hit up the system when according to him, Imolites are enjoying peace and tranquility.

It was very obvious and crystal clear that many schools management discharged their students and pupils to go home so as to avoid being victims of the trouble of IPOB.
